Cloud9 has added a fifth player to its CS:GO roster, with Erick “Xeppaa” Bach having signed for the organization. The rifler made the move after parting ways with Chaos Esports Club, signing a three-year contract with Cloud9, believed to be worth around $432,000. General Manager Henry “HenryG” Greer even went as far as confirming that the American could earn as much as $530,000 with bonuses included.

Xeppaa was brought in to replace AWPer Özgür “woxic” Eker, who departed the org earlier in the week due to a lack of motivation, as well as problems with ping and location. While the ex-mousesports sniper has been replaced, Cloud9 is still on the lookout for a new coach, with Aleksandar “kassad” Trifunovic having made his exit at the end of last year. Cloud9 has made no secret its desires ahead of the 2021 season, with the organization being one of few to release information regarding its finances.

Why Cloud9 Opted to Sign Xeppaa

20-year-old Bach began his professional CS:GO career back in 2017 with Team Problematic, having also competed under the banner of Dogs of War, Infamous, Royal, Variance Gaming, Rap Gang, Can’t Win Anything and Under 21. Having joined Chaos Esports Club back in May 2020, the American helped the team to a successful second half of the season, which was effected significantly by the Covid-19 pandemic.

With tournaments having taken place online and at a more regional level, the team won DreamHack Winter NA, as well as the IEM Beijing NA, beating Team One and Triumph in the finals respectively. However, the lure of joining an organization with the status of Cloud9 was seemingly too good of an opportunity to miss for Xeppaa, who will likely make his debut at the upcoming cs_summit 7.

How the Move for Xeppaa Unfolded

Reports first emerged of Cloud9’s interest in Xeppaa some weeks ago, with the rifler having been a free agent since December 4. With an average rating of 1.17 during his time with Chaos, a host of organizations showed interest, including FURIA. However, with talks with the Brazilian’s having stalled, Cloud9 swooped in. The Cloud9 CS:GO roster now features Alex “ALEX” McMeekin, William “mezii” Merriman, Özgür “woxic” Eker, Patrick “es3tag” Hansen, Ricky “floppy” Kemery and Xeppaa.
