According to a report from Upcomer and RushBMedia this week, Cloud9 Blue are currently working on a deal to sign Anthony “Vanity” Malaspina. The Version1 in-game leader is believed to be closing in on a switch to the Cloud9 Blue VALORANT roster, which would see him reunite with some of his former Chaos Esports Club CS:GO teammates.

The offseason has only just begun, however this is one of many potential deals expected within the VALORANT scene. Should vanity’s move come to fruition, Cloud9 Blue would have seven active players on its VALORANT roster. However, it is understood that ex-Cloud9 CS:GO pro Ricky “floppy” Kemery is to stand down from their active roster.

When will Vanity Be announced by Cloud9 Blue?

The report suggests that vanity should be announced by C9 Blue sooner rather than later, with many anticipating further information by the end of the week. Version1’s VALORANT roster was only launched back in February, with the lineup featuring former CS:GO pros and existing VALORANT talent.

The team qualified for the NA VALORANT Champions Tour Stage Two Challengers Finals, before wins over Andbox, NRG, Team Envy and Cloud9 Blue in the lower bracket secured their spot at the Masters Two Berlin. At the first international LAN VALORANT event, Version1 caused a shock by defeating Team Liquid, before eventually losing to both NATURN and Fnatic. Despite such losses, Version1 earned a top 6 finish, long with 200 VCT points.

Why Vanity was an appealing signing for C9 Blue

Version1 has since qualified for the VCT Champions Last Chance Qualifier NA. Meanwhile, Cloud9 Blue already know that they will miss out on the event. 22-year-old vanity retired from CS:GO in February, having played for Swole Patrol, eUnited and Chaos. The American helped Chaos in winning the DreamHack Masters Winter 2020: North America, where they beat Team One in the final.

The Cloud9 Blue VALORANT roster currently features floppy, Mitch “mitch” Semago, Nathan “leaf” Orf, Son “xeta” Seon-ho, Michael “poiz” Possis and Erick “Xeppaa” Bach. Meanwhile, Korean Yoon “Autumn” Eu-teum is the current head coach.
