It is understood that Nabil “Nivera” Benrlitom is to begin a trial with Team Liquid’s VALORANT team. With Team Liquid considering creating a six-man roster, the Belgian, who is current under contract with Vitality, could well be making the switch over the coming weeks. Reports surrounding the future of Nivera were broken by Upcomer this week.

Should Nivera join on a permanent basis, he could well replace British player James “Kryptix” Affleck, who has been at Team Liquid since the org entered the VALORANT scene back in August last year. Liquid entered into negotiations to sign Nivera back in May this year, however talks eventually fell through. Since then, the org has made no changes to its VALORANT roster.

Nivera would weam Up with Brother ScreaM at Team Liquid

The 20-year-old, who is of Belgium / Moroccan descent enjoyed a decent career in Counter-Strike Global Offensive, having played for the likes of WonderKids, Team Heretics and Vitality. With Vitality, Nivera won the BLAST Premier: Fall 2020, beating Astralis in the final.

A move to Team Liquid would also see Nivera compete alongside his older brother Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom, who joined the team in August 2020. ScreaM is one of the many players to have made the transition from CS:GO to VALORANT, with brother Nivera having not competed since March, when he was benched by Vitality.

This was not really due to performances, with Valve having made the decision to penalize teams that substitute players during the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) circuit.

Team Liquid were beaten by Gambit at the EMEA VCT Stage Three: Challengers Playoffs, while they also failed to qualify for the upcoming VCT Masters Three Berlin as a result. The defeat was costly, with Team Liquid losing its automatic qualification for Champions, which is arguably the most highly anticipated VALORANT event of the year.

When will Team Liquid weturn to action?

With Nivera likely to be on board, Team Liquid will compete at the EMEA Last Chance Qualifier in October, with just one spot for the VALORANT Champions event being up for grabs here. Nivera would most likely team up with ScreaM, Travis “L1NK” Mendoza, Dom “soulcas” Sulcas and Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen.

Team Liquid recently added Brit Jake “Bacon9” Lloyd as an analyst, as they look to find the right formula in returning to top form. He will work alongside fellow Brit Connor “Sliggy” Bloomfield, who is Team Liquid’s current coach.
