Giants Gaming has announced that VALORANT in-game leader Ričardas “Boo” Lukaševičius has been benched, with the Lithuanian pro now being part of the organization’s inactive roster. Boo joined the Spanish team back in January, however he has not had the impact expected.

The move comes just a matter of days after the team was knocked out of the EU VALORANT Champions Tour Stage Three Challengers One open qualifier by Rix.GG, with the duo having met at the Round of 16 stage. The defeat was particularly disappointing given that Giants were the clear favourites going into the series.

What Boo had to say on his benching

Speaking on the decision, Boo wrote the following message via a press release: “Giants VALORANT team needed a change and as a result I was benched from the active roster. I understand the position of Giants and I am thankful for the opportunity they gave me to become a pro player. I always had everything I needed, felt comfortable and was able to focus on playing 100% without any external concerns.”

“I want to say thank you to pipsoN for literally teaching me how to play the game and how to IGL. Thanks hoody, Meddo, fit1nho, MOLSI, Happy for being good teammates and letting me improve together with you. With that being said, I am still under contract but I am looking for a new home. I am looking for a team with clear goals, a hardworking environment and healthy atmosphere as I know I can contribute a lot to that kind of team. Some things about me.”

Who features on the current Giants Gaming VALORANT roster?

With Boo on board, Giants’ best performance was a semi-final showing at the LVP Rising Series Two, which took place in June. Michal “MOLSI” Lacki has also been benched by Giants, leaving Johan “Meddo” Renbjork Lundborg, Aaro “hoody” Peltokangas and Adolfo “Fit1nho” Gallego as the only members of their active roster. Meanwhile, Daniil “pipsoN” Meshcheryakov recently transitioned from player to coach, with fans keen to see how such changes will impact results.
