According to reports this week, Jamal “jammyz” Bangash is to trial with Evil Geniuses VALORANT team. The news was broken by Upcomer this week, with the former Version1 stand-in having competed under the banner of smoker and beastcoast. The organization is likely to be in need of a replacement for Nolan “Temperature” Pepper, who has been strongly linked with a move to Gen.G.

It remains unclear as to whether Temperature will depart. However, the fact that jammyz is trialing with the team means that the writing could be on the wall. It appears likely that Jammyz will compete for Evil Geniuses at the Pittsburgh Knights Monthly Gauntlet, an event which gets underway on Monday, September 27.

Why Evil Geniuses have targeted Jammyz to replace temperature

The org has yet to confirm its roster for the tournament, meaning that there is still time for alternatives to be found. Jammyz has acted as a stand-in many times since making his VALORANT debut, however this is an excellent opportunity for the American to sign with a team on a permanent basis.

Jammyz was part of the Version1 roster at the VALORANT Champions Tour Masters event, held in Reykjavik, His role with the team came about after Maxim “wippie” Shepelev was unable to travel to the event due to unforseen issues. With Version1 having defeated both Team Liquid and Crazy Raccoon during the event, it perhaps comes as little surprise that a leading org has taken notice of Jammyz.

Version1 were ultimately eliminated following defeats at the hands of Korean team NUTURN and runners-up Fnatic. With Version1 having crashed out in the lower bracket, it was left to North American rivals Sentinels to win the event. Meanwhile, Jammyz featured at the VCT Stage 3 Challengers 2 Quarter-finals.

Who makes up the Current Evil Geniuses Valorant roster?

Playing for Pioneers, the team found themselves one win away from the playoffs. However, a 2-1 loss to Luminosity saw them eliminated. Jammyz was substituted into the starting roster in the absence of Jason “jmoh” Mohandessi, who was taken to hospital on the day of the match. At Evil Geniuses, Jammyz will team up with Daniel “roca” Gustaferri, Brandon “BRANTED” Ballard, Mike “pho” Panza and Kelden “Boostio” Pupello.

It has been a period of transition for Evil Geniuses, with Christine “potter” Chi having moved to the head coach role last month, while Jimmy “LiN” Lin took up the assistant coach position for EG.
