Nathan “NBK” Schmitt has become the latest Esports pro to make the switch from CS:GO to VALORANT, with the French veteran having announced that he will be competing for OG Esports. The organization acquired the Monkey Business roster earlier in the year, a move which saw OG enter the VALORANT Champions Tour.

Why NBK is a major signing for OG VALORANT

NBK is one of the best CS:GO players in the history of the game, having played for the likes of G2 Esports, Team Vitality and OG. Having joined OG in December 2019, NBK helped the team in becoming one of the best around. The 27-year-old is now embarking on a new challenge, following in the footsteps of many who have joined the VALORANT scene over the last 12 months. Speaking on his decision, NBK stated that:

“I have done it all from local LANs to winning Majors, grinded through the ranks, and sat on top of the world. I lived the big disappointments and the best tournament wins. Counter–Strike gave me everything and I dedicated my life to it. But memories are made to stay in the past. It’s time for a change and I’m coming to dominate [in VALORANT].”

Then speaking on Twitter, NBK posted a message to his fans, stating that: “I’ve tried to answer everyone and I’m really overwhelmed by all the positive support from everyone in and out of the CS scene. I’m going to bed really tired but also sincerely happy about it all, see you tomorrow for some more Valorant on stream.”

Meanwhile, OG Esports has also had their say on the matter, stating that: “This new challenge on VALORANT marks the beginning of a new chapter in his career, but also illustrates the growing importance of Riot Games in esports.”

What NBK has achieved to date

NBK has won a total of 52 titles during his career to date, with two having come at major tournaments. The Frenchman has also won the MVP award on multiple occasions, with fans having handed him the nickname “kingmaker”. His Esports career dates back to 2009, however he potentially faces his biggest battle, as he looks to help OG achieve success in VALORANT for the first time. He had spent recent months on the OG bench, meaning that his move to VALORANT is not a surprise.
