Triumph Gaming has signed a new roster ahead of making its return to the CS:GO scene in 2021. The organization will be hoping to move up the rankings in the North American scene, with the countdown to the next major having already begun. Triumph broke the news on its official Twitter page, with their new CS:GO roster to be made up by both old players and new faces.

Alan “Shakezullah” Hardeman will remain as in-game leader for the team, while rifler Brandan “Bwils” Williams will also feature again. Meanwhile, Austin “Cooper” Abadir, Danny “cxzi” Strzelcxyk and Wesley “viz” Harris have been added to Triumph’s roster.

Why Triumph Made Such Changes

As a result of changes made by the organization, Canadian Erik “penny” Penny has been relegated to the bench, which has already led to him looking into a move to the VALORANT scene. The new-look Triumph Gaming CS:GO roster has a good mix of experience and youth.

Cooper competed under the banner of eUnited from 2018 to 2020, having previously represented the Orgless roster, as well as Swole Patrol. Swole Patrol was formally run by Ryan “freakazoid” Abadir, the older brother of Cooper. Meanwhile, cxzi has made a name for himself as one of the best FACEIT players in NA of late.

Triumph was unable to find any kind of consistency last year, with the team having been effected by the loss of Michael “Grim” Wince and Paytyn “Junior” Johnson, who moved to Team Liquid and FURIA Esports respectively. However, Triumph did show their potential by finishing in 2nd place at the IEM Beijing Online NA tournament, where they defeated Team Liquid. The org also won a series of tier-two events.

Will Triumph Gaming Be a Force in 2021?

With the smaller CS:GO field in North America, Triumph could well be nicely positioned to achieve big things in 2021. The likes of 100 Thieves, Chaos E.C. and Team Envy will not be competing. The new Triumph Gaming roster will feature for the first time at the DreamHack Open North America, with preparations for the event having already begun.
The fact that Triumph does not have to start completely from scratch could well stand them in good stead, with it remaining to be seen as to just how far the team can go this year.
