The Playoffs Stage of The Overwatch League 2020 North America is scheduled to take place between September 3rd – 13th. A total of 13 participants will take part in it and two of them will advance to the Final 4 tournament that constitutes the unification of the two regional Playoffs. Due to the global crisis, the OWL organizer decided to have separate Playoffs for the two regions (North America and Asia) and then reunite the best of the best for one final battle in which 3 million dollars will be offered as prize money. The winner goes home with half of that amount.

The Overwatch League 2020 North America Playoffs Participants

OWL 2020 North America features 13 participants for its Playoffs Stage. These participants vary immensely in strength and you’ll probably want to follow only the top 4. These are the following:

  • Philadelphia Fusion: +40 (overall map score)
  • San Francisco Shock: +39
  • Paris Eternal: +19
  • Florida Mayhem: +18

Almost for certain, two of these 4 teams will qualify for the Final 4 event. In my view, these teams will be Philadelphia Fusion and San Francisco Shock, but Paris Eternal also stands a good chance in this race.

The other 9 teams will need to participate in the Play-Ins and only 4 of them will survive.

Team Analysis (Favorites)

Here’s a brief analysis of the 4 favorites mentioned above:

Philadelphia Fusion

pf

Philadelphia Fusion ended the Group Stage with 24 wins and just 2 losses. This team has been playing well for a few seasons and it’s not that big of a surprise that they’re owning everybody. The only surprise is that other formerly great teams, such as Vancouver Titans, got completely destroyed this season by them.

PF’s big enemies during this Playoffs Stage are Paris Eternal and San Francisco Shock. Both teams defeated them in the Group Stage and it’s obvious that they understand how Philadelphia likes to play. So they better watch out, because both of these teams are here, in the Playoffs.

San Francisco Shock

San Francisco Shock almost won the Group Stage but ended up in 2nd place as a result of losing some inexcusable matches against Los Angeles Gladiators and Los Angeles Valiant. Both losses occurred during the early part of the season, so in a way it’s understandable why SFS lost. Another good news regarding these losses is that both of these LA teams ended up around 5th – 6th in the Group Stage and will now have to survive the Play-Ins to cause them any trouble in the Playoffs.

Paris Eternal

In spite of having just 19 wins and 6 losses in the Group Stage, Paris Eternal is a tricky team that proved its worth against world-class opponents. This competitor could potentially cause the downfall of both Philadelphia Fusion and San Francisco Shock. So keep an eye on them.

Florida Mayhem

And finally, we have Florida Mayhem. Honestly, I don’t expect this team to succeed at this level, but since they’re here, you might want to watch their matches as well.
