North American Esports organization Sentinels have announced that Tyson “TenZ” Ngo will remain a part of their VALORANT lineup for the time being, ending weeks of speculation surrounding the superstar. The former CS:GO favorite will now continue to compete for the Stage 1 Masters winners, with the news having been broken on Twitter on April 12.

TenZ originally signed for Sentinels on loan back in March, replacing Jay “Sinatraa” Won in the process, with the Canadian having been a key part of their success of late. The 19-year-old remains on loan from Fnatic, where he is still contracted, however his loan deal has seemingly been extended. Sentinels posted the following message to its 150,000 Twitter followers:

How Sentinels Broke the News

“We are pleased to announce that TenZ will be competing with Sentinels through the end of Challengers Finals.” TenZ switched from CS:GO to VALORANT in April last year, having signed for Cloud9 Blue. Having signed on loan with Sentinels, TenZ helped the team to wins over both Luminosity Gaming and 100 Thieves in the Stage 1 Masters Playoffs upper bracket.

Sentinels then won five consecutive matches during their clash with FaZe Clan, handing them their first VALORANT title of the year. Reports surfaced about an estimated buyout of $5 million for TenZ, however this was quickly downplayed by Cloud9 CEO, Jack Etienne. Despite this, the two parties have yet to come to terms on a long-term arrangement, with TenZ staying on loan for now.

The uncertainty surrounding the Sentinels roster has certainly not been helped the team, with stability being important for any lineup. However, the news that TenZ will be able to compete in Sentinels colors throughout the entirety of the Challengers 2 will certainly come as welcome news.

Will TenZ Join Sentinels on a Permanent Basis?

TenZ would be in a position to help Sentinels in the Stage 2 Challengers Finals, should they qualify, with his loan having been extended to May 2. The team must finish in the top two positions to guarantee a place at the Stage 2 Masters in Iceland, where it would be uncertain as to whether TenZ could travel to.

It remains to be seen as to whether another loan deal is necessary, with many expecting Sentinels and Cloud9 to come to an agreement for a permanent transfer before then. However, should Sentinels not have the financial muscle to sign TenZ on a permanent basis, an alternative will have to be discussed.
