According to reports this week, Team Liquid are hoping to add Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen to its VALORANT lineup, with the former CS:GO pro potentially replacing Adam “ec1s” Eccles. Jamppi would become the latest CS:GO star to make the switch to VALORANT, with the Finnish player having been handed an indefinate ban by Valve on January 26.

Why Team Liquid are Close to Signing Jamppi

Team Liquid are looking for someone to fill the shoes of ec1s, who has been with the organization since its VALORANT roster was first established in August last year. Liquid were eliminated early on at the Champions Tour Europe Stage 1 event recently, with the org unsurprisingly being keen to bring in new faces as a result. A 2-1 defeat at the hands of Alliance was ultimately enough to seal their fate in the Round of 16.

Despite having also been beaten by the likes of Heretics, FunPlus Phoenix and G2 Esports in the past, Team Liquid is one of the leading names in the European VALORANT scene, with the skills of Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom helping them massively. Jamppi recently ended his 10-month spell with CS:GO team ENCE, who finished in the top two positions at the BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 European Showdown with his help. However, ENCE would finish in a disappointing 8th position in the European Finals, losing out to G2 in the process.

When Could We See Jamppi in Action for Liquid?

Jamppi has long talked up a potential move to VALORANT, with his playing style most likely fitting in with duelist or controller roles. However, this has yet to be confirmed, as is the case with any move to Team Liquid. Should the move materialize, he would team up with ScreaM, James “Kryptix” Affleck, Dom “soulcas” Sulcas, Travis “L1NK” Mendoza. Connor “Sliggy” Blomfield is the current coach of the Team Liquid VALORANT roster.

With the VALORANT Champions Tour 2021: Europe Stage 1 Challengers 3 open qualifiers taking place at the beginning of March, we could well see Jamppi in action for Team Liquid sooner rather than later.
