The most popular streamer on Twitch, Félix “xQc” Lengyel has been banned from the platform for seven days. In what is now his fourth such ban, the former Overwatch League professional was disciplined following a stream on Wednesday.

While some had suggested that xQc could receive an extended ban due to continued offences, Lengyel took to Twitter to make it clear that it would be for just one week. Twich Rivals made the announcement following xQc’s actions during GlitchCon, where the Canadian “stream-sniped” other content creators. This involved viewing an opponents stream and intentionally griefing them when queuing into a game at the same time.
Along with his ban, xQc will have to forfeit all prize money and will be unable to appear on Twitch Rivals for a period of six months. The former Dallas Fuel player stream sniped a team featuring DrLupo, Tyler1 and Shroud, which played a part in their elimination from the Fall Guys event. Shroud was one of the first to call for a ban, even though xQc’s team did not claim victory themselves.

Why xQc is Never Far from the Headlines

His recent ban is the latest in a long line of misdemeanours, with the streamer having received bans in the past due to racism, homophobia and the sharing of inappropriate content. Bans were distributed in July 2019 and February 2020, meaning that another comes as no surprise. xQc has made a name by reacting to videos on his channel, with the 25-year-old having taken to Twitter to apologise for his actions.

“What I did had no impact on the outcome but it was wrong. Sorry again, I wasn’t trying to cheat out of malice I was just trying to entertain. 7 days suspension for now. Ride like lightning, crash like thunder. Go agane. PS: Give my winning to charity and i’ll match it.”
Meanwhile, in their official announcement, Twitch Rivals posted that: “At GlitchCon our player conduct rules were violated. We require all participants to abide by the same rules in order to play in a tournament. As a result, xQc has been issued a temporary Twitch account suspension, a temporary Twitch Rivals ban & forfeited associated prize money.”

How Others Have Reacted to xQc’s Latest Ban

Tyler 1 reacted to the news of xQc’s ban by flippantly saying: “No shit he got banned. Dude, he stream sniped on stream, he had to be banned. He had to be banned, otherwise it sets a bad example,” Tyler said. “Dude honestly, I wish all the kids who stream snipe and ghost me are permanently banned as well… He doesn’t deserve to get permabanned but bro, no shit he got banned he stream sniped on stream.”

Meanwhile, Shroud followed this up by saying: “I actually didn’t think he was going to get banned. A lot of people were saying it was blown out of proportion but I thought the opposite, I thought it wasn’t blown up enough, so I thought Twitch was just gonna let it slide and be like, ‘Oh shit, nobody cares. Cool,’ but I’d say they made the right decision.”
Lengyel has over 4 million followers on Twitch, with his streams averaging between 40,000 and 60,000 viewers. xQc has become the biggest name to be kicked off the platform since Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm’s ban back in June.
