The much anticipated PlayStation5 showcase took place on Wednesday, with the launch having given Fortnite fans an unexpected look at how the game will look on the console. While the trailer that accompanied the PS5 showcase was brief and didn’t actually reveal anything new about Fortnite itself, it did provide a small indicator as to how the game will perform on the new console.

The hugely popular Battle Royale game will be one of the launch titles for the PS5, with existing players that are thinking of upgrading to Sony’s latest console now knowing that their abilities will not be lost.

How Sony Revealed the News Surrounding Fortnite on PS5

The Playstation5 showcase aired a video showing Fortnite running on Unreal Engine 4, a game engine developed by Epic Games, who have already revealed that the game will also be available on Xbox Series X at the time of launch, as well as PS5.

While the fact that Fortnite will be ready for the launch of these highly anticipated consoles, given its popularity, however the news will certainly have been welcomed by millions of gamers around the world. Fortnite is currently a free to play game, with its availability being one of its biggest selling points. Meanwhile, it is now also one of the most watched games on streaming platforms including Twitch and YouTube.

Similarly to GTA and Skyrim, Fortnite has been expected to launch on PS5 due to its popularity, with the showcase this week having certainly made gamers take note. The screen faded to black, before the famous Battle Bus horn blared out, before video footage of Season 4 on Unreal Engine 4 was displayed.

After a short amount of time, in which viewers were treated to action-packed clips of the game, the screen then turned white, with the text revealing that Fortnite would indeed be available at the launch of PS5. Fortnite will be one of the few games that is available on launch day.

When Can Fans Play Fortnite on PS5?

A number of Fortnite updates have already been released so far this year, especially over recent months, such as Chapter 2 Season 4 back in August, which focused on the world of Marvel. Skins surrounding some of the franchises most popular characters became available, including Iron Man, Groot and Thor. Fortnite is available on PlayStation4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC at present, with gaming fans now knowing that they will be able to get involved on PS5 upon the console’s release in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea on November 12, along with the rest of the world on November 19. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X is also due to be released in November.
