Esports organization SK Gaming has announced its return to the Rocket League scene, having signed the former Aether roster. The news comes shortly ahead of the RLCS X Spring European Major, which got underway over the weekend. British player Dylan “eekso” Pickering is the standout player, with the 18-year-old being joined by German Damian “Tox” Schafer and Austrian Maurice “Yukeo” Weihs.

SK Gaming has been absent from Rocket League for some five years, having initially launched a European team in 2016, shortly after the release of the Psyonix soccer video game. The ex-Aether lineup came together following eekso’s release by Galaxy Racer, with Tox and Yukeo having been free agents. The duo previously competed for Giants Gaming and Dignitas, respectively.

What SK Gaming Has Said on the Return to Rocket League

SK Gaming’s Martin Marquardt had the following to say on the announcement, stating: “It’s been a few years since we’ve scored goals with cars, and when the opportunity arose to sign this team, we really wanted to get back into the game again. The Rocket League community is one of the most vibrant ones out there and we look forward to not only competing, but also to bring the fans entertainment on a new level.”

As Aether, the team made it to the RLCS X Spring Regional Event 1, while also placing second at the Spring Regional Event 3. Such results mean that they are ranked at no.6 in Europe, based on points earned during the Spring Split. Aether also qualified for the RLCS X Spring Major thanks to their results in the Spring Regionals.
