The second (of three) Legends of Runeterra Call of the Mountain set is nearly upon us! Riot Games’ first CCG is far from a perfect title, but it still does so many things right. That, in short, is why it’s currently one of the more popular ones on the market, despite its shortcomings!

It’s distinct, fast-paced, and contains a myriad of characters and champions we all know and love. And now, we’re on the brink of yet another set! If you’re a frequent player, then these are exciting times! Granted, this second set — titled Monuments of Power — won’t be as big and game-changing as the first, but it’ll still bring a breath of fresh air.

Monuments of Power

In short, Monuments of Power will bring three entirely new champions, along with 37 non-champion cards, including playable units (from all regions) and spells. In the teaser above, we can see the Howling Abyss (Freljord) along with an unindentified (and mighty imposing) place in the Shadow Isles. There’s also a quick shot at a Heimerdinger statue in front of what seems to be a university in a more developed part of Piltover.

As for the champions, there’s still no telling whom Riot will release now, and who’s slatted for the third set in December. We know that Zoe, Shyvanna, Riven, Viktor, Tahm Kench, and Soraka will all join the fight by the end of 2020. Based on the images released above, it’s hard to assume which champions will first see the light of day, but Viktor and Tahm Kench seem like fairly educated guesses.

As for the thirty-seven non-champion cards, their main purpose is to empower other regions, seeing how Targon got a bevy of interesting (and game-changing) cards mere weeks ago. The point of it all is to create a more balance state of affairs.

The current meta is obviously favoring Targon champions which makes it a bit less entertaining than we’d like. Decks consisting of Leona, Diana, Aurelion Sol, with an odd Trundle and Nocturne thrown in for good measure currently reign supreme. With this new set, however, it stands to reason to expect a more diverse meta.

Closing Remarks

The Legends of Runeterra Monuments of Power set will release on October 14th! There’s still a lot that we don’t know, but with the release date being so close, you can expect many announcements and leaks over the coming days. Keep an eye on the official LoR Twitter page, and as always, we’ll bring you immediate coverage as things hit the web!
