According to reports this week, Team Liquid duo Thiago “xS3xyCake” Reis and Joao “HSnamuringa” Deam are set to be replaced by Gabriel “AsK” Santos and Pablo “resetz” Oliveira. While nothing has been made official as of yet, it appears that the Team oNe academy and Black Dragons players will soon be wearing the Team Liquid colors.

Meanwhile, it is understood that Team Liquid had made a move for Karl “Alem40” Zarth, only to be turned down by the Six Major champion. It is likely that xS3xyCake and HSnamuringa will find new teams without much difficulty, although it remains to be seen as to whether it will be in time to compete in Stage 3. Speaking on his future, Alem40 stated that: “After [both SI 2021 and the Mexico Major], we had an internal meeting and reached an agreement between the players and the organization that we would keep the roster as-is, so after that we shut down any offers.”

Why Liquid are looking to shake things up

Team Liquid finished in second place at the Six Invitational 2021, before reaching the semi-finals at the Mexico Major, where they were beaten by Team oNe. Should such changes come to fruition, it would be the first roster moves made by Liquid since May 2019, when Muringa joined from Black Dragons.

With Muringa having ended Stage 2 with a SiegeGG rating of 0.91 on Sledge and Smoke, as well as a 0.89 rating on Buck and Smoke at the Mexico Major, it is clear to see why he is at risk of being replaced. S3xyCake had a rating of 0.98 on Hibana and Echo, along with a 0.99 rating on Hibana and Melusi.

Why AsK & resetz are being targeted by Team Liquid

Meanwhile, resetz finished Stage 2 with a rating of 1.07, mainly on Sledge and Mute. Liquid’s other potential new arrival AsK has been competing for Golden Kids, the Team oNe academy lineup. During the Copa do Brasil Stages 1 and 2, he finished with a rating of 1.06 on Maverick and Smoke.

Team Liquid is regarded as one of the teams that could potentially challenge the biggest names in the Rainbow Six scene, with Luccas “Paluh” Molina and Andre “nesk” Oliveira having been particularly impressive. However, it remains to be seen as to how roster changes will impact their performances. Liquid are still in search of their first international title since the OGA PIT Minor back in 2019.

We are definitely looking forward to Team Liquids first game with their new lineup.
