After an exciting two match days, we welcome Spacestation Gaming back to the top of NAL. For the winners of the Six Invitational, this is the first time they’ve been able to reclaim this spot in over a year.

The day kicked off with an overtime victory for XSET. The team squared off with beastcoast on Consulate and delivered a few highlight-worthy moments. At one point, beastcoast were close to securing their seventh point, but XSET eventually forced them into overtime. Once there, Tim “Creators” Humpherys and Sam “Jarvis” Jarvis sealed the deal with two defensive strong rounds.

DarkZero and Susquehanna Soniqs went all the way to overtime as well. After initially leading the match, Soniqs had to watch as Paul “Hyper” Kontopanagiotis carried DarkZero through to overtime. DZ let their opponents run out of steam and two rounds later, they held the match victory.

The fans received overtime #3 of the day when TSM and Mirage entered the server. The match went by the same principle – a four rounds lead for TSM at half time, Mirage bringing everything back on the offense. The teams concluded regulation, after which Alexandre “QrTz” Moranta and Zachary “Nyx” Thomas helped close it out for Mirage.

SSG REACQUIRE THE LEAD

On the fourth day, Javier “Thinkingnade” DeAndre Escamilla and his men had already reclaimed the top spot. However, their win on the fifth match day has now given them enough of a margin that TSM are an entire match victory away from catching up. SSG’s encounter with Oxygen was the only one to not feature overtime that day. Not only that, they absolutely crushed Oxygen Esports and sent Davide “FoxA” Bucci home alongside his team after just eight rounds in total. This is a bad sign for Oxygen, the winners of the most recent NAL Stage. They are still bound to face off with Soniqs, DarkZero, and TSM. It stands to question whether they can generate enough points out of that to get back to the top.

But SSG cannot rest either. The three points lead we touched upon earlier can be gone again on July 7. As it turns out, they’re facing TSM, the second place team. If Team SoloMid manage to win in regulation, they will tie with SSG at exactly 13 points. The head-to-head comparison will then put TSM on top.

After five days of matches, SSG’s lead is built on fragile grounds. TSM have the chance to surpass them within just one game, and the rest of the Top 4 is vulnerable to attacks from Susquehanna Soniqs and Oxygen Esports. Four match days remain until the final hacking order of NAL Season 2 Stage 2 is revealed!
