R6 EUL: NaVi and G2 Overtake BDS

The Frenchmen of BDS have dropped by two places. While they’re still tucked into the third place, G2 and NaVi are slowly taking the lead. Vitality and Cowana are also quickly approaching the Top 4, but there’s still some distance to the overall frontrunners. Empire, BDS, G2, and NaVi are ahead. But for how long will it stay like this?

Just looking at the results of the last few days, one might think that Empire are among the best in the league. Their 0-7 loss to BDS is all but forgotten and what remains are solid victories over Vitality, Rogue, and Secret. Things are looking great for Empire, but they can’t rest easy and have to secure as many points as possible. After all, they’re going to spend the last two days sparring with NaVi and G2!

The boys in yellow are continuing their victory run. After a strong 7-4 finish over Virtus.pro, they have acquired the top spot in the European League. Even though G2 hold the same amount of points, the Head-to-Head comparison dictates that NaVi should be ahead. Cowana had an easy time against unKnights. Ubisoft have allowed the ex TrainHard lineup to play under this new name. The roster’s morale, however, is at rock bottom. For three match days straight, they have barely managed to get past two round points on any map. They’re now in last place of the league and nothing points to them leaving anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Rogue are trying their best to get of of their slump. Vitality were by no means an easy opponent, so their overtime finish was already a small victory in of itself. At the end, they lacked this one small round that would have granted them two points for the standings. Their one point overtime loss has helped them past unKnights, but that’s not really an achievement.

BDS ARE DOWN FROM FIRST PLACE!

We had already predicted this in our last EUL feature. The newly resurgent G2 looked dangerous and BDS had struggled in recent time. An upset was on the cards and Jordan “Kayak” Morley’s troops were more than ready to dethrone the Frenchmen. Their 7-4 victory on Clubhouse has allowed G2 to ascend to second place. For three match days straight, they have put up insane performances and seem to have compensated well for their new arrivals.

BDS are in dangerous territory now. Of course it’s still unlikely that we’re going to see them drop out of the Top 4, but their encounter with Natus Vincere is still waiting to happen. They might not be able to fulfill on their promise as (supposedly) Europe’s best.

More than half of EUL Season 2 Stage 2 has been played out. Even though some frontrunners are appearing on the scene, teams like Rogue and Secret can still close the gap a little and save themselves from relegation. After all, the team with the lowest score at the end of the entire season will descent to Challenger League.
