Dignitas were able to achieve a repeat victory against Team SoloMid. This time around, they fought for their tournament lives. TSM thus have to exit Pop Flash early.

In the Opening Match of the tournament, Dignitas had been able to upset TSM. On 13-5 and 13-4 scorelines, they had set themselves on top of the formerly best North American team. In the Winners’ Match, Dignitas sadly failed, so they were sent to the Decider Match against TSM. In preparation for this duel, there were quite a few question marks surrounding Dignitas’ performance. Was their previous victory a fluke? Would TSM really be defeated twice by this team?

The first map gave us some quick answers. Again, Dignitas got into the match enormously fast, leading with 8-4 at haltime. The defense of TSM was similarly strong, however, and soon the two teams entered overtime. There, Dignitas were able to secure the map victory with two straight round wins. While the TSM camp was led by players like Yassine “Subroza” Taoufik, Stephen “reltuC” Cutler was practically absent. On the Dignitas side, there were fewer individual stars, but all players contributed overall.

ONE FOOT OUT THE DOOR ALREADY

Again, TSM were close to defeat. On Bind, they finally managed to find some footing with a 9-3 lead at halftime. On the offense, Matthew “Wardell” Yu and his colleagues sent a statement with their 13-3 victory. The two teams were thus set to decide the winner on Ascent. There, Dignitas managed to find a comfortable lead again, getting the overall round advantage at halftime. As they switched to the defense, they shut the bombsites down completely. WIth a 13-7 victory, Dignitas secured the last map against TSM to win the match and a slot in the playoffs.

Dignitas don’t boast these types of star players like Subroza or Wardell. They win their matches not through individual talent. They succeed, because all players are pulling on one string and win rounds as a unit. While star power reigns supreme at TSM, solid teamwork is what seals the deal for Dignitas.

ENVY VS. IMT POSTPONED

The match between Envy and Immortals has been postponed. Under the hashtag #BiggerThanSports, Immortals try to raise awareness for the ongoing discussion on police brutality in the US. The organization wishes to shine a light on these issues and hopes to achieve a 100% voter registration coverage within its own staff. The match will now be held prior to today’s scheduled ones. This means that we can expect more action aside from the Semi Finals.
