In their usual innovative and curious manner, a Fortnite player has discovered a new trick that players can use to heal and remain alive while downed instead of waiting for teammates to return and heal them. For most Fortnite players, being downed is the most frustrating period during a battle royale conquest. The term “downed” refers to a point in the game when a player has been severely hit by the enemy to a near-elimination point.

It is also called being “knocked out” or “knocked down.” When a player is down, they’ve run out of health, and thus have to wait for their teammates to return from eliminating enemies so they could revive them. In some cases, it may take a long time for the teammates to return, and it’ll be too late to simply revive the downed player. In such scenarios, the teammate has to pick up their reboot card, and ferry them to a reboot van, where they’ll be rebooted.

How the Trick Works

While this entire process seems cool, a curious Fortnite player could not help but seek an alternative until they discovered this new trick which involves using a Mending Machine to bounce back to life. The player, who goes by the username madelrush on Reddit shared the trick in a video they posted a few days ago.

To use this trick, the downed player has to be close to a Mending Machine. Immediately they get hit and their health is about to run out, they have to quickly crawl to the Mending Machine. Ideally, Mending Machines are used to purchase healing items in Fortnite, so its use in this exploit shouldn’t come as a surprise.

As soon as the downed player crawls to the Mending Machine, they have to pay with up to 200 gold bars to get some partial healing. Using this exploit, downed players can stay downed for an unspecified long time as long as they have enough gold bars to purchase their healing.

Why Use this Trick?

Players will find this trick particularly useful during the highest point of a storm circle, when the chaos becomes uncontrollable, and it becomes difficult to find a reboot van that hasn’t been overtaken by the storm. One important point to note, though, is that there are only 12 Mending Machines on the Fornite island. So, players can only use this trick when they’re around any of the Mending Machines. Hence, this trick may not be misused like the others that have been discovered in recent times.

Similar Tricks Discovered by Fortnite Players

This year, Fortnite players have found a handful of other exploits in the game. One of the most recent ones is the new Spider-Man emote called the Neighborhood Hang. Innovative players found that they can use this emote to hang above doorways and remain suspended upside down, in a way that makes their feet invisible.

Players are currently having fun with this emote, and it is expected that Epic Games will fix that glitch soon. Within the year, fans had also encountered a glitch that gave them unlimited heals. It was really dramatic and fun using that glitch until Epic Games fixed it.

Apart from fun glitches that make the battle royale a little easier, players have also discovered some really annoying glitches in the game this year. One of the most significant ones that impacted the game negatively was the glitch that caused players to lose gold bars after every match. Lots of players complained bitterly about the glitch, prompting Epic Games to quickly patch it off.
