Perfect World Dota2 League Division A Preview

Perfect World Dota2 League is a fairly small tournament that’s scheduled to take place in the Chinese region between October 28^th and November 8^th. We don’t know its prize pool yet, but we do know its 5 participants. And some of them are actually good competitors that regularly play against the top Chinese teams.

Perfect World Dota2 League Details

Perfect World Dota2 League will take place online and in two stages. For the Group Stage, the Single Round-Robin format will be used. All matches here are Bo2. What this means is that each of the 5 teams will have to play one match against everyone else. Based on these results, the Playoffs seeding will be made. This seeding is similar to what they do in League of Legends, in the South Korean tournament. In effect, the winner of the Group Stage advances directly to the Grand Final, where it waits for its rival. The 2^nd place team advances directly to the Semifinal, where it waits for its rival. And so on.

Each of the 5 teams advances to the second stage of Perfect World Dota2 League. But there’s a huge seeding difference between the 1^st and the 5^th. While the 1^st is guaranteed 2^nd place and only needs to win one match to be the champion, the 5^th will need to win 4 matches in a row to achieve the same result.

Perfect World Dota2 League features the following teams:

• Team MagMa
• For The Dream
• Phoenix Gaming
• IO Dota2
• Galaxy Racer

By far, the most important teams on this list are MagMa and IO.

MagMa

MagMa is currently competing in important Chinese tournaments that feature the strongest teams in the region. One example of such a tournament is CDA-FDC Professional Championship. And while it is true that MagMa finished last in its group with a single game victory in 3 matches, the fact that it plays at such a high level means a great deal for a much smaller competition such as Perfect World Dota2 League. At this level, MagMa is most likely the big favorite to win the title.

IO

IO Dota2 is Mushi and Ohaiyo’s new team. The roster also contains vtFaded, a fairly well-known player from Malaysia. But other than that, we don’t know anything about them. Because of the big names it has in its composition, IO is expected to do well at this tournament. Although it’s not yet clear how strong the other participants are.
