It has been a busy week for the Paris Legion, as they look to finalize its starting lineup. Donovan “Temp” Laroda will replace Luis “Fire” Rivera, who was released by the organization at the beginning of the week. Temp had previously been benched ahead of the second Major of the season, with Drazah having been selected in his absence.

Temp’s arrival was announced on April 13, just a matter of hours after Fire’s departure was made public. The legions 43,000 followers were greeted by a video containing Temp’s highlight reel from the 2021 season. The former LA Thieves player was also part of the New York Subliners team that featured in the inaugural CoD League season.

Why the Legion Parted Ways with Fire

Temp was facing the prospect of being inactive or competing in Challengers before his switch to the Legion. However, he will now feature in the leading competition in the scene, with a significant number of matches still to look forward to. Having a 4-8 record so far, there is much work for Paris and Temp to do.

Former rookie Fire was let go at the start of the week, with the free agent now looking for a new home. The fact that he was not even benched means that the org does not believe he had any sort of future with the team. It is likely that Fire will now have to return to a Challenger team or another semi-pro outfit.

How Paris Broke the News of Fire’s Departure

Posting on Twitter, Paris Legion wrote: Today, we part ways with @Fire40. We thank Luis for being an exemplary teammate and a fierce competitor with an unmatched hunger to learn and win. Good luck in the future!” The org also described Fire as an “exemplary teammate and a fierce competitor with an unmatched hunger to learn and win.”

Fire was one of the standout performers in Challengers last year, meaning that it came as no surprise when the Legion gave him a shot at the big time. However, things did not quite work out for the youngster, who may well get another chance in the future.

The Legion have shown improvements, however they have been poor over recent weeks, culminating in a recent loss against the LA Thieves. The defeat saw Paris eliminated from the second Major immediately. They currently find themselves 10th in the standings.
