If rumors end up being correct, Omega Shenron will be yet another DLC character that’ll join the ever-growing Dragon Ball FighterZ roster! This is quite exciting news, especially if you’re a regular player. Omega Shenron is one of the more fascinating characters from the Dragon Ball universe, and having him in FighterZ would surely be a load of fun. Plus, he’s one of the few good things from Dragon Ball GT, although that’s a debate for another time and place. But as far as the third DLC season is concerned, there are still two fighters left to be announced. We’ve already gotten Kefla, Ultra Instinct Goku, and Master Roshi. The last two spots, however, remain a question mark.

There’s very little rhyme or reason to the way Arc System Works and Namco Bandai choose their DLC fighters. Sometimes it’s an age-old fan favorite pick; other times it’s pretty much another version of Goku. (to the dismay of many) But they’ve been cherry-picking fighters from all sorts of DBZ-related media which is definitely a fun approach.

Dragon Ball FighterZ Omega Shenron Rumor

According to an old datamined rumor, there’s an unused Gogeta line in the game. Now, if we view Gogeta’s battle throughout the anime, he’s only fought three times. Once against Super Broly, once against Janemba, and finally, once again Omega Shenron. And as you probably know, Super Broly and Janemba are already in the game. Furthermore, the line itself has actually been spoken by Gogeta by the end of Dragon Ball GT in response to Shenron, so even though this is still a rumor, it’s a very plausible one. Plus, the fact that this voice line is still unused (despite being in the game for quite a while) adds a ton of credence to the rumor. Had Janemba not been released earlier, we might’ve had a bit of reserve.

Now, however, we know that Arc System Works and Namco don’t care much for continuity. Instead, they want to ship as diverse a cast of characters as they can. Of course, take things with a grain of salt until we get official confirmation; fortunately, all signs are pointing towards Omega Shenron being a lock for Dragon Ball FighterZ. He’s also quite a powerful character with a wide array of tools and attacks. This means he’ll undoubtedly end up as a top-tier pick upon release. What his moveset will ultimately look like, however, will remain a mystery for the time being.
