Olof “olofmeister” Gustafsson is believed to be on the verge of retiring from the professional CS:GO scene, especially if the latest interview from teammate Marcelo “Coldzera” David is anything to go by. The duo have been competing under the banner of FaZe Clan since David arrived at the organization in September 2019, with the Brazilian having revealed that his Swedish counterpart is to step away from CS:GO.

Speaking to cybersport.ru, David spoke about the future of FaZe Clan ahead of the 2021 pro circuit. Olofmeister, who won two majors in 2015 with Fnatic, returned to the organization last year in order to take over from star man Nikola “NiKo” Kovac, following his switch to G2 Esports. However, having spent some eight years in the CS:GO scene, the popular pro has little left to accomplish.

Olofmeister was ranked as the 6th best player by HLTV in 2016, with his ranking them slipping to 19th in 2019. The former Fnatic man then took a break from competing, before returning last year, much to the delight of fans. Gustafsson is one of just six players to have competed in all CS:GO majors, including the StarLadder Berlin Major.

What Coldzera Stated in His Recent Interview

Speaking on what the future holds for FaZe, Coldzera stated that: “In the near future, we planned to make two replacements, the transition of Twistzz has already been announced.” The next step will be to replace olofmeister, who will end his career. He doesn’t want to play Counter-Strike anymore.

Meanwhile, David also announced that the org would be announcing a fifth player in March or April this year. The FaZe Clan lineup has undergone a host of roster changes of late, with Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras having taken over from Olofmeister originally early in 2020, only to be replaced by Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjaerbye shortly after.

What Can We Expect from FaZe in the Near Future

The FaZe CS:GO roster is currently made up by Havard “rain” Nygaard, coldzera, Helvijs “broky” Saukants and Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken, with the arrival of the former Team Liquid player Twistzz having seen Kjaerbye benched. With or without olofmeister, FaZe Clan will go head to head with Team Liquid at the BLAST Premier Spring series in the middle of February. The result will determine who moves onto the finals, taking place in June.
