OGA Dota PIT Season 4: China Preview

Yet another big event is about to start in China. With $150,000 in prizes and 8 of the strongest teams in the region taking part in it, OGA Dota PIT Season 4: China promises to be an amazing tournament to watch. In this article, I’ll take a brief look at it and its participants.

OGA Dota PIT Season 4: China Details

OGA Dota PIT Season 4: China is scheduled to take place between December 3^rd – 12^th. Like almost every other competition that took place this year, there won’t be any matches in a big arena. Everything will happen online.

Competitive Format

The competitive format of OGA Dota PIT Season 4: China is very simple: two groups of 4 (single round-robin) followed by a double-elimination bracket. The winner of each group advances to the second round of the Upper Bracket. The 2^nd and 3^rd place teams advance to the first round of the Upper Bracket. The bottom team is eliminated. Except for the Grand Final, all of the matches will be Bo3.

The event features 8 teams:

Team Aster
Team MagMa
Invictus Gaming
Vici Gaming
Elephant

Some of these teams are very strong while others are clear underdogs. I would say that PSG.LGD, EHOME, Aster, Vici Gaming, and Elephant are the strong ones. The other 3 competitors have little to no chance of succeeding.

Group Stage

As I mentioned before, the competition will start with two groups.

Group A

EHOME
RNG
Team MagMa
Vici Gaming

In this group, EHOME and Vici Gaming will probably have a very easy time. In the battle for the 3^rd place, RNG is stronger than MagMa, at least on paper. The winner of the group should be Vici Gaming. But EHOME has decent chances as well.

Group B

Elephant
Invictus Gaming
LGD
Team Aster

This group is much tougher than the first. Invictus Gaming looks like a clear victim among these giants. The big favorite is Elephant. They won the title at the recent China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 2 by defeating Aster in the Grand Final (3 – 0), as well as PSG.LGD along the way (not once but twice!). So I fully expect them to dominate the group and advance to the second round of the Upper Bracket. As for the 2^nd and 3^rd place, I think that PSG.LGD and Aster will occupy them, most likely in this order.

Tournament Favorites

The overall favorites of OGA Dota PIT Season 4: China are Elephant, Aster, and probably EHOME. PSG.LGD looked out of shape recently and only finished 4^th at China Dota2 Pro Cup. Vici Gaming seems to be going through something similar. And with these two teams not doing so well, Elephant, Aster, and EHOME are almost guaranteed to steal the show.
