Heroic and OG have been able to keep their tournament dreams alive at DreamHack Open Summer Europe. In their Decider Matches against Endpoint and forZe, respectively, they have been able to secure the remaining playoffs spots.

HEROIC 2-0 ENDPOINT

The British team got off to a phenomenally bad start on Inferno, which was their own map pick. Heroic, thanks to Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen and Martin “stavn” Lund, ran away with a 12-3 half on defense. From there on, they just piled onto the Endpoint players and left no room for a comeback, ending the match on 16-3.

The second map, Mirage, started in Heroic’s favor again. It looked as if they were going to dominate the half once more, but finally, Endpoint struck back with a few round wins. Joey “CRUC1AL” Steusel racked up quite a lot of kills to keep it a competitive 8-7 half in their favor. Their momentum carried over to the second half as well, bringing them onto a 13-7 lead. Then, unfortunately, Casper “cadiaN” Møller’s gears began turning. As the IGL adjusted his team’s approach, so did Heroic start winning rounds. Endpoint failed to find a suitable answer to the Danish defense and found themselves with their backs against the wall, as Heroic mounted a comeback and surpassed them on a 16-14 score line.

OG 2-0 FORZE

The international superteam still have quite a lot to prove. Yesterday, they made a narrow affair of the Winners’ Match against Complexity. After Mateusz “mantuu” Wilczewski had taken some time off due to a wrist injury, he returned from the summer break to mixed results. Unfortunately, he is still waiting for his break-through performance, as their match against forZe was largely carried by Issa “ISSAA” Murad and Valdemar “valde” Bjørn Vangså. On Mirage, OG struggled to get into the match. Their CT side proved to be lackluster, netting them a mere 6 rounds at half-time. However, their approach to the terrorist side was much more successful. In the end, they scraped past forZe on a 16-14 score line.

On Nuke, mantuu finally found some form and delivered a sound beating to his CIS opponents. Almaz “almazer” Asadullin in particular struggled massively. As OG managed to win the majority of their T side rounds, their eventual match victory was almost set in stone. Nuke’s layout favors the CT side, so it only took them a few more rounds to seal the deal on a 16-10 score line.

With that, Endpoint and forZe are out of playoffs contention. Heroic and OG now join BIG and Complexity in the semi-finals, where the Germans will be taking on the OG side and the Danes will clash with Complexity. The playoffs will commence on Saturday, leading into the Grand Finals on Sunday.
