Leading Swedish Esports organization Ninjas in Pyjamas has made the surprise move of unveiling a complete rebrand. Having looked relatively similar for the past 20 years, NiP has made the change in order to keep up with their modern competitors. Gone is the black, white and gold color scheme and in comes a bold neon look.

How the New Look NiP Branding Was Created

The rebrand was created by New York-based Motto, who worked alongside NiP for over 12 months in order to “create a visual design and storyline that will live on for years to come.” The rebrand became especially important given the steps other organization’s have taken over recent months, including G2 Esports, who recently partnered with giants Adidas.
The standout changes for NiP include the new neon, black and grey color scheme, an updated logo and new typeface. The logo depicts a shuriken and also displays the Japanese word “Nin”, while the typeface was designed to maximize the “ambition and audacity” of the organization.

Speaking on the rebrand, Motto founders Sunny Bonnell and Ashleigh Hansberger stated that they had aimed to give Nip a “crystal clear identity and powerful voice”. The rebrand will feature on all platforms, as well as clothes and other merchandise, which is “designed to embody the feeling and values of being a ninja”.

What NiP Has Said on the Rebrand

Following the announcement, NiP CEO, Hicham Chahine, stated that: “For us who work at and play for NIP, being a Ninja is something special–it’s more than just a brand and we kept that in mind while creating this new narrative to deliver an unforgettable experience for our fans and partners all over the world. Ninjas fight as one, we have discipline, we stay calm and we inspire. A ninja can be everyone and we feel it’s important to create a story that anyone can connect with.”

The history of Ninjas in Pyjamas dates back to 2000, having first made its mark in the Csounter-Strike scene. The organization would dominate the early years of CS:GO too, while it now operates teams in FIFA, VALORANT and Rainbow Six Siege. NiP has lost some of its ora in CS:GO, with even world class players such as Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund and Patrik “fOrest” Lingberg failing to make a significant impact.
