Veteran Call of Duty player Renato “Saints” Forza has been signed by the New York Subliners to play for its academy team ahead of the 2021 Challengers season. The arrival of the 25-year-old means that the Subliners Academy lineup is almost complete, with just one spot remaining up for grabs ahead of their opening match.

Saints will team up with Byron “Prolute” Vera and Kris “Spart” Cervantez, with the duo having arrived at the organization in January this year. However, it remains to be seen as to whether youngster Hamza “GloFrosty” Shaikh will be continue in his current role. The American has competed under the banner of the New York Subliners on more than one occasion, however we will have to wait and see as to whether the team trusts him enough to complete their lineup.

Who Will Make Up the Subliners Academy Lineup?

GloFrosty did help the Subliners in winning two events, potentially meaning that he has a good chance of being kept on. The experience of Saints could well be the perfect match for a prodigy such as GloFrosty, with Forza having been in the Call of Duty scene for over 10 years in all. He is best known for his time with Echo Fox, Denial Esports, Team Envy and Luminosity.

He spent the inaugural Call of Duty League season with the Los Angeles Guerrillas, however he parted ways with the team at the end of the campaign. Saints has managed to become one of the top players in the Black Ops Cold War scene, having won the Toronto Ultra 5k Holiday Snack at the end of last year. He also won the NA Call of Duty Challengers Cup just last month, where he competed alongside Prolute and Spart.

Why the Academy Required a New Addition

It had been thought that Conor “Diamondcon” Jhost would be one of the players on the Subliners Academy roster. However, the Canadian was promoted to the starting roster upon the retirement of Thomas “ZooMaa” Paparatto. While this was seen as a positive for Diamondcon, it left the Academy team in the lurch.

The Subliners Academy recently qualified for the 2021 NA Call of Duty Challengers Elite Stage 1, demonstrating that their lineup could well be one to look out for during the upcoming season.
