This time around, Riot has decided to showcase seven brand-new Legends of Runeterra cards from both the Noxus and Demacia regions! Needless to say, we’re in for quite a treat.

There’s a lot of ground to cover, so let’s begin with our breakdown!

Legends of Runeterra | New Noxus and Demacia Cards

First of all, we have the Noxus landmark called “Noxkraya Arena.” And yes, it’s about as mind-blowing as it sounds! It’s a 5 mana landmark with a Round End effect. At the end of each round, your strongest unit and the opponent’s weakest unit will strike each other. This is an absolutely amazing effect if you’re into brute forcing your way to victory, which generally is Noxus’ M.O. Sheer aggression and the “punch first, ask questions later” approach.

Scorched Earth” is a 3 mana Fast spell from Noxus that’ll kill a damaged unit or destroy a landmark. Having a relatively cheap landmark removal tool will be of the utmost importance going forward. These cards, while still few in number, are bound to affect the meta and change the way the game’s played. Therefore, if you’re running a Noxus deck, make sure to have at least one Scorched Earth (if not even more) once the upcoming Monuments of Power set hits live servers!

Stony Suppressor” is a 2 mana Demacia unit with 1 | 3 and a very peculiar effect. While it’s on the field, all spells will cost 1 more mana. This is a great card if you’re looking to counter spell-heavy decks like, say, Ionia. Plus, three HP for just 2 mana crystals is pretty darn good.

Sharpsight” is a 2 mana Burst spell from Demacia. It’ll give an ally unit +2 | +2 for the remainder of the round and allow it to block opposing units with Elusive. The first half of this effect is clear and quite potent. +2 in both stats is nothing to scoff at, after all. The second effect, however, is a lot more peculiar. It’s a great thing to have if you’re against Elusive-heavy decks, but they’re not particularly potent or present in today’s meta. Still, this is a good, cheap card that’ll surely be of great help.

Stalking Broodmother” is a 7 mana Demacian Dragon with 6 | 6 and the Fury and Scout keywords. Overall, it has an obscenely high cost, but its keywords are quite impressive. This is essentially a late game-oriented unit that’s supposed to clear the enemy’s board as quickly as possible. Still, for seven mana crystals, there are better choices out there.

Dragonguard Lieutenant” is a 2 mana unit from Demacia with 3 | 2. Once it beholds a Dragon, it’ll attain the Challenger keyword. Overall, a fantastic card that’s still quite strong even without the Behold/Challenger passive. This card is also foreshadowing what we can only assume will be Shyvana’s reveal tomorrow. Heck, we can even see Shyvana in the splash art!

Legends of Runeterra Noxus Demacia

A great little preview of what’s to come!

“Egghead Researcher” is a 2 mana unit with 1 | 3. Once summoned, he’ll create a random Dragon follower in your hand. Yet another card that’s setting the stage for Shyvana’s reveal. With so many Dragons and Dragon-oriented cards in the game, it seems as though she’ll have more than enough support upon release.

Closing Remarks

Overall, both Noxus and Demacia decks have gotten quite a solid boost (the latter especially). That said, the fact that Shyvana’s release is right around the corner has to be the most exciting part of today’s reveal.

The Monuments of Power set will hit live servers on October 14th, so make sure to grind as much as possible if you’re looking to unlock any of these amazing new cards!
