After the big upset from Group A of ESL Pro League Season 14 (Astralis was eliminated) and the even bigger upset from Group B (G2 and Virtus.pro are out of the race), we finally have what you might call a normal Group C. The two favorites, Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan, are leading the pack and will be facing each other today in the last match of this group. Here’s what has happened so far.

ESL Pro League Season 14 Partial Results

ESL Pro League Season 14 will most likely be won by Natus Vincere, followed by FaZe. However, 3 other teams are close behind them.

  • 1st place: Na’Vi: 3 W – 1 L
  • 2nd place: FaZe Clan: 3 W – 1 L
  • 3rd place: mousesports: 2 W – 2 L
  • 4th place: Fnatic: 2 W – 2 L
  • 5th place: BIG: 2 W – 2 L
  • 6th place: Evil Geniuses: 0 W – 4 L

Rather surprisingly, Na’Vi lost against BIG while FaZe lost against Fnatic. It’s absolutely fascinating how the top 5 teams in this group seem to know exactly how to win against certain opponents but have no clue how to play against others.

If the last round of matches goes according to plan, FaZe Clan, BIG, and Fnatic will have identical scores: 3 W – 2 L. It’s not clear what the procedure is in such cases but there will most likely be tiebreakers.

Interesting Statistics

One interesting fact about Group C of ESL Pro League Season 14 is that Na’Vi hasn’t played a single 3-map match. s1mple’s team either won with 2 – 0 or lost with 2 – 0. Right now, the squad looks unbeatable on Nuke and very hard to beat on Mirage and Inferno. Combined with the fact that it can play every single map, this gives the CIS lineup a big advantage again any team that never plays one of the 7 maps and needs to ban it every single time.

Fortunately for FaZe, they do play every map and one of their weakest is Nuke. This gives them the option to ban Nuke first and have a relatively even match against Na’Vi, at least from a map pick perspective. Most likely, the confrontation between these two giants will take place on Mirage, Inferno, and Ancient. The most likely score is 2 – 1 in favor of Na’Vi.
