If recent speculation is to be believed, Evil Geniuses are set to announce the arrival of Michal “MICHU” Muller, with the Polish CS:GO pro set to become the fifth member of their roster. It remains to be seen as to who the rifler will replace, however the future of Tarik “tarik” Celik is very much in the air.

MICHU joined Team Envy at the start of 2020, however he is now available for transfer, having been made inactive just under 12 months later. North American org Evil Geniuses are looking to strengthen their lineup, with MICHU looking likely to become the second European on board, joining AWPer Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov.

Why EG Are Making Roster Changes

EG are making changes following a disappointing run of results, with the team having not won a tournament since August last year, coming at the ESL One: Cologne 2020 Online – North America. While they also finished third at the IEM – New York and 3rd/4th at the IEM- Beijing, results quickly went south.

Their only notable tournament result came at the BLAST Premier: Spring Group 2021, where EG registered a top 6 finish. At the recent Snow Sweet Snow 3, the team was knocked out at the semi-final stage by the former Winstrike lineup. It was this showing that seemingly convinced those in charge that changes were needed.

It appears just a matter of time until MICHU is announced as tarik’s replacement, with the latter likely to be the first ex-NRG player to leave EG. Tarik has been with EG since September 2019, averaging an HLTV rating of 1.01. However, with this rating having dropped to 0.93 over recent months, it comes as no surprsie that his place is under threat.

Why EG Opted for MICHU

OG were also recently linked with a move for MICHU, however they announced the arrival of Shahar “flameZ” Shushan from Endpoint this week, putting an end to such speculation. MICHU has been an Esports pro since 2013, having made his name with GF-Gaming. Since then, he has competed under the banner of several teams, including Lounge Gaming, Virtus.pro and Team Envy.

Since his release by Envy, the Pole has been playing in lower level tournaments. Alongside Byali, Luz, EXUS and NEEX, he finished fourth at the European Development Championship Season 2: Open Qualifier 2. The team also finished third at the DreamHack Open January 2021: European Qualifier.

While his arrival has not yet been confirmed, MICHU is expected to make his EG debut at the FunSpark ULTI Europe Final, where he will come up against former team Virtus.pro, as well as Complexity, Heroic and forZe. Worth $250,000 in prize money, the event gets underway on April 19.
