With popular mid-laner Erlend “nukeduck” Våtevik Holm set to take an extended break from competing, Astralis has announced that promising youngster Felix “MagiFelix” Boström will step up in his place. The former Fnatic prodigy will now compete for their LEC team, with the 20-year-old having started his career with EURONICS Gaming back in 2016.

It remains unclear as to exactly why Nukeduck will be absent from the team, however an official announcement from Astralis put it down to “personal reasons”. Meanwhile, it also remains to be seen as to whether the Norwegian 24-year-old will return at all, with the organization having continued by saying that his “return at this point is uncertain.”

Why Changes Were Needed at Astralis Anyway

His absence is certainly MagiFelix’s gain, with the Swede having signed on the dotted line with Astralis until the end of March. This date is significant due to the fact that it is two weeks after the end of the 2021 LEC Spring Split. It is understood that MagiFelix has already travelled to Copenhagen to meet up with his new teammates, as they step up preparations for upcoming League of Legends matches this weekend.

Astralis has endured a torrid time of late, with their set of results leaving them in 9th position in the standings, with only 10 LEC teams being involved. The organization’s only victory in the competition to date came in the first week, when they overcame rock-bottom Team Vitality. Things have only gone downhill from there, with both Astralis and Vitality now having a 1-6 record to their name.

Can MagiFelix Spark Astralis Into Life?

Although it will perhaps not strike fear into their opponents, the arrival of MagiFelix at Astralis could well the boost that the team was looking for. However, with statistics showing that the team currently has three of the five lowest KDA Players in the LEC, the youngster certainly has a lot of work to do.

Astralis will go head to head with Schalke 04 and Misfits Gaming next time out, with nothing but one win doing for the struggling outfit by the end of the weekend.
