Ten brand new cards from the upcoming “Rise of the Underworlds” expansion have just been unveiled and, frankly, they’ve definitely piqued our interest! There’s nothing overly ground-breaking here, but it still warrants a breakdown.

Interestingly enough, we’ve only gotten support cards this time around (Demacia, Freljord, Ionia, Targon, Shadow Isles, and Noxus), so no champion reveals or anything similar. Still, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to talk about! Quite the contrary! Heck, there’s even a bit of Yeti support thrown in for good measure!

There’s a lot of ground to cover, so let’s begin!

LoR | New ‘Rise of the Underworlds’ Cards Revealed

Field Promotion” is a 2 mana Burst spell from Demacia. The next time you play a unit (on the round this spell is activated), grant it Scout and make it an Elite. The pairing with Shyvanna screams potential!

Fabled Poro” is a 4 mana Poro with 2 | 5. Once summoned, all of your other allied Poros will gain a random keyword. So, on the one hand, a four mana price tag is nothing to scoff at. On the other, this passive is simply bonkers! Just what Poro-based decks needed!

Abominable Guardian” is an 8 mana Yeti with 5 | 5. Once played, you’ll draw another Yeti follower. At the start of each round, if you happen to have 2+ Yetis in play, you’ll be able to summon this unit from your hand and create an additional copy of it in your deck. Quite powerful, all things considered!

Defiant Dance” is a 4 mana Slow spell from Ionia. Once activated, you’ll recall a unit and then Blade Dance 1. Pretty darn underwhelming.

Starlit Epiphany” is a 3 mana Burst spell from Targon. Once played, you’ll get to Invoke. If you happen to have a Celestial ally, replace your deck with 20 copies of Behold the Infinite.

Heavens Aligned” is a 1 mana Focus spell from Targon. You can activate it either as a Daybreak card or a Nightfall one. If you opt for the former, you’ll get a random Nightfall card in your hand, and vise versa. Overall a pretty interesting spell that’ll surely see a fair bit of play going forward. Versatile would perhaps be the most apt way of decribing it!

Atakhan, Bringer of Ruin” is a 10 mana unit from Noxus with 5 | 12 and Overwhelm. Once he attacks, his Power will be increased by the total Power of all your allies. Talk about a game-ending push! Spectacular, really.

Thorned Blade” is a 4 mana Burst spell from Noxus that’ll grant an ally +5 | 0 for the remainder of the round. A bit pricey, but potent, no doubt.

Astral Fox” is a 4 mana unit with 3 | 3 and Fearsome. Once played, kill an ally to deal 3 damage to the enemy Nexus. Just your standard, run-of-the-mill kind of SI follower.

The Twisted Treeline” is a 3 mana Landmark. Once it sees three Fearsome units attack, it’ll automatically destroy itself and summon Vilemaw (6 | 6, Fearsome).

Closing Remarks

All in all, this is quite a lot to take in. There’s a little bit of something for everyone, so make sure to read the fine print! It’ll still take players a couple of weeks to come up with the best and most optimal ways of utilizing these cards, but they’ll no doubt find a home in the current meta. Well, most of them, at least.

We’ll be back with another reveal in just a couple of hours, so stay tuned! In the meantime, make sure to log in, queue up, and start grinding as you’ll need all the shards you can get once “Rise of the Underworlds” hits live servers on June 30th!
