Ekko, the Boy Who Shattered Time is the latest addition to the ever-growing LoR champion roster! And, by the looks of it, he’s bound to leave a mark on the meta once he’s released on June 30th! His accompanying spells are absolutely spectacular, and we cannot wait to see it all in action! That is undoubtedly where the grunt of his power lies.

So, needless to say, Riot really knocked it out of the park with this one! Ekko is a fairly complex champion in regular LoL, and the fact that they were able to transmute his abilities with such precision is nothing short of praiseworthy!

Naturally, all of this warrants a bit of analysis, so let’s take a closer look!

LoR ‘Rise of the Underworlds’ | Ekko Joins the Fray!

Ekko is a 4 mana champion with 4 | 2 and the Quick Attack keyword. Whenever he strikes, you’ll get a Fleeting Time Trick in your hand. To level him up, you’ll need to Predict at least five times.

His second level, however, is where things get a lot more interesting. He’ll grow to 5 | 3 and get a whole new effect. Once he levels up, you’ll get three Chronobreaks in your deck. Moreover, the Fleeting Time Trick cards created through striking will cost 0 mana.

Chronobreak is a 3 mana Slow spell that will revive all allies that have died this round and then provide you with Rally. Stupendously powerful, in short. The fact that you’re getting three of these is also mighty OP, given that you maximize their potential, of course.

Imagine getting your whole board revived three times in a single duel. Incredible, really.

Ekko’s Called Shot is a 2 aman Slow spell that’ll allow you to draw a card and then create a Parallel Convergence in your deck. Simple, easy to use (and understand), and also mighty powerful.

Parallel Convergence is a 4 mana Slow spell that’ll start a free attack with an exact Ephemeral copy of each ally. Yet another endlessly interesting card that’s packed with potential!

Closing Remarks

All in all, the folks over at Riot have really outdone themselves yet again! Ekko and his Predict-based playstyle might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but he’s an interesting addition to the game regardless of your preferences.

On the one hand, he seems relatively broken if played correctly. On the other, he relies on the whole Predict mechanic which is pretty much the very definition of RNG. He might be incredibly powerful, but only in the right circumstances. If you can’t predict the right cards and set the right things in motion, then you probably won’t be able to accomplish much. Regardless, we can’t wait to see him in action!

The “Rise of the Underworlds” expansion is slated to release in just a couple of hours so make sure to log in, queue up, and start grinding as you’ll need all the shards you can get!

We’ll be back with more coverage over the coming days and weeks, so stay tuned!
