LoL – Multiple Teams Interested in Acquiring T1 ADC Teddy

Park “Teddy” Jin-seong has long been considered one of the best bot laners in the whole League of Legends scene. However, with the veteran marksman having been benched by T1 back in July, the South Korean favourite is believed to be exploring his options. Ahead of the 2022 season, a number of organizations have expressed an interest, both from the LCS and LCK.

Teddy has been with T1 since December 2019, having made his name competing the Gin Air Green Wings and SK Telecom 1. However, having lost his position at T1’s starting AD carry, reports from Upcomer suggest that he could well be on the move, sooner rather than later. Given his experience in League of Legends, it comes as no surprise that he is admired by many potential suitors.

Why Teddy Is Considering His Future

With his contract not running out until November 2022, the 23 year old will be allowed to move on anyway, with many Korean org’s likely to try and sign top player Teddy. However, a possible switch to the LCS has not been ruled out, with at least two teams understood to have made contact in the hope of pulling off his signature.

It was a difficult season for Teddy in 2021, with the experienced pro having been forced to share the starting role at T1 with the promising “Gumayusi”. In fact, Gumayusi was picked more often, having made 23 starts, compared to Teddy’s 19. On top of this, it was Gumayusi who had the better record by the time that the Summer Split had come to an end.

How Gumayusi Took Teddy’s Starting Position at T1

It is worth noting that Teddy had a better KDA than his teammate, as well as more impressive damage numbers. His early-game stats were also favourable compared to Gumayusi, leading the way in terms of average gold difference and experience difference at the 10 minute mark. Teddy featured heavily during the 2021 Summer Split Playoffs, before Gumayusi was preferred at the Regional Gauntlet, where he shone in their five game series against Hanwha Life Esports.

As a result, it came as no surprise that the teenager was selected for T1’s 2021 World Championship campaign. It was perhaps this decision that forced Teddy into a rethink, with many leading organizations likely to battle it out for him. No specific names have been given at this point. Of course, we will bring further updates as and when we get them.
