Astralis has begun their League of Legends roster rebuild, with veteran AD carry Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup having joined the organization. The Danish giants broke the news on Tuesday, with the former Misfits Gaming pro set to team up with Matti “WhiteKnight” Sormunen, Nikolay “Zanzarah” Akatov and Hampus Mikael “promisq” Abrahamsson.

Astralis had a disappointing season last time around, leading to the org making the decision to make undergo a roster rebuild. The arrival of 25-year-old Kobbe has been praised by many, with the Dane having made a name for himself as one of the best marksmen in the European scene.

How Kobbe Made a Name For Himself at Misfits Gaming

Kobbe played a key role in helping Misfits Gaming in reaching the 2021 LEC Summer Split Playoffs. However, they were ultimately unable to make much of an impact at the event, having been eliminated by Fnatic in the lower bracket. As a result, Kobbe was understood to be searching for a fresh start, with Astralis potentially being a perfect fit.

Speaking on his switch to Astralis, Kobbe stated that: “After talking to Kasper Hvidt and the organization, I quickly felt confident that I would be a good fit as I share many of their values, especially with their unique focus on training, physical and mental health, and of course, performance. This is something you don’t find in many places, and the fact that I get to live in Denmark and be a part of this set-up is very exciting.”

Meanwhile, Astralis head coach, Baltat “AOD” Alin-Ciprian, has spoken of his excitement at welcoming a player of Kobbe’s calibre, stating that “he fits [the team’s] culture.” Fans of the org will be hoping that his signing can help them in reaching the playoffs for the very first time.

When Will Kobbe Make His Astralis Debut?

While Astralis has achieved major success in the CS:GO scene, they have so far struggled to make an impact in League of Legends. They were disappointing in their first year in the LEC, where they eventually recorded a ninth-place finish in the Spring, before jumping only one position in the regular season standings. Kobbe is set to make his Astralis debut in the 2022 LEC Spring Split, which gets underway on January 14.

It has been a busy period for Astralis, with the org having parted ways with “MagiFelix” last month, before he was joined on the list of departures by “Jeskla” earlier in November. Meanwhile, Academy coach “Donby” was promoted to their main roster too.
