All about the League of Legends Arcane anime series. League of Legends is making its way to Netflix. Riot Games has revealed the new animated series “Arcane,” which will be released later this year. Here’s everything we know about the series so far, including the cast, first leaks on the story of Jinx vs Vi, and when the series will be released.

It was revealed 2 years ago that Riot Games was working on a League of Legends anime. Then in early 2020, “Arcane” was officially revealed, where it was then confirmed that Jinx and Vi will play the main roles. Riot and Netflix have stated that the series will be about the “origins of two iconic champions of the League” and “the power that will tear them apart.”

The release date

Riot Games has announced that Arcane will be released on Netflix in the fall of 2021. However, there is no set date for the League of Legends animated series yet. When the series is released, we will probably get to see all the episodes at once.

League of Legends Arcane Trailer

The original Arcane trailer was released back on October 16, 2019. It showed us Piltover, the “City of Progress,” and its underground twin, Zaun, in the midst of the story. Riot Games released a short clip from Arcane on Weibo today.

New Arcane clip posted to League Weibo from loreofleague

The clip lasts about two minutes and shows younger versions of Jinx and Vi sitting on a rooftop in their hometown of Piltover. The two talk about childhood memories and Vi gives Jinx a pair of binoculars while showing her various landmarks. Another clip from Arcane, featuring older versions of Jinx and Vi, was released back in June.

What will the series be about?

Arcane will tell the origin story of Jinx and her sister Vi. The League of Legends series will explore the sisters’ childhood in Piltover and Zaun, and explore the twin cities. Piltover is the upper-class utopia, while Zaun represents the mean streets and dystopian underbelly of Runeterra.

In today’s LoL lore, Jinx and Vi are anything but friends. The sisters insult each other and Jinx taunts her siblings whenever they meet. Jinx has become a notorious Zaun terrorist and Vi is a sheriff from Piltover. The series will explore how the two sisters became so different and why they no longer like each other.

It is likely that many other popular Zaun and Piltover champions will also appear in the animated series.
