League of Legends team LGD Gaming has parted company with veteran jungler Han “Peanut” Wang-ho ahead of the 2021 season. The 22-year-old will now be searching for his fifth team in the same number of years, having previously played for NaJin e-mFire, ROX Tigers, SK Telecom T1, Kingzone DragonX and Gen.G during his career.

Peanut performed well for LGD Gaming after arriving at the team in November last year, however the South Korean failed to adapt to the meta at the World Championship, where he was asked to act as their primary carry on champions including Lillia, Graves and Nidalee. After the tournament, a disappointed LDG fan acted as one of the teams’ players in order to access Peanut’s details, before sending the jungler a funeral wreath.

Why LGD Gaming Released Peanut

LGD Gaming eventually finished 9-12th at the Worlds. It was perhaps such performances which ultimately led to LGD’s decision to release Peanut, with the South Korean having had his say on the matter during a recent interview with Korizon: Peanut stated that: “I’m sad that the decision was made in such a short time. Because of the circumstances of the team, LGD and I have mutually agreed for me to become a Free Agent. I am currently looking for offers, open to any teams in any region. I wish the best of luck for LGD in future endeavors.”

Where Does Peanut’s Future Lie?

There is currently no information regarding where Peanut will play during the 2021 season, however the free agent will undoubtedly have no shortage of admirers given his vast experience in the League of Legends scene. However, with the 22-year-old having made a specific point of being open to playing in all regions, it could well be that a move West is on the cards, with many organizations in North America potentially fighting for his services.

Peanut’s breakthrough in the League of Legends scene came with ROX Tiger’s back in 2016, before becoming the first player to reach five consecutive LCK finals, starting at the Spring 2016 and ending at the Spring 2018, as well as doing so with three different organizations – KOO Tigers, SK Telecom T1 and KING-ZONE DragonX.
