We’ve entered a brand-new day, which means there’s a host of novel Legends of Runeterra cards to break down — including a new keyword called Predict! This announcement, of course, isn’t quite as hype as the ones preceding it, but it’s still a load of fun regardless!

So, with that out of the way, let’s get down to business!

Legends of Runeterra | New Shurima Cards & Predict Keyword

Let’s first go over the new Predict keyword. Once activated, you’ll get to pick a card from among three in your deck. You’ll then shuffle your deck and put that card on top. Quite an amazing move, you’ll probably agree, and it foreshadows the release of both Zilean and Ekko. The former is now all but guaranteed to be released on March 3rd.

Preservarium is a 2 mana Landmark from Shurima. Once you play onto the board, you’ll draw a card. It also has a Countdown of 2. Once it reaches zero, you’ll draw another card.

Ancient Preparations is a 1 mana Landmark from Shurima. Once played, you’ll get to Predict. It also comes with a Countdown of 2. Once it reaches zero, you’ll summon a Clockling.

Clockling is a 1 mana unit from Shurima with 2 | 2. It doesn’t have any effect or keyword attached to it.

Promising Future is a 4 mana Slow spell from Shurima. It can grant an allied landmark “My Countdown completion effect activates twice.” Quite a nifty effect, although it depends on what you apply it to.

Khahiri the Returned is a 6 mana unit from Shurima with 4 | 4 and Fearsome. Once summoned, he’ll create another copy of himself in your deck. When you see him in a Prediction, all Khahiri copies everywhere will gain +2 | +2. His interesting Prediction passive aside, he doesn’t have a whole lot going for him, given his steep mana cost.

Khahiri the Student is a 3 mana unit from Shurima with 3 | 3. Once summoned, he’ll gain +1 | +1 but only if you’ve Predicted at least once during the game.

Xenotype Researchers is a 3 mana unit from Shurima with 3 | 3. Once summoned, she’ll grant 3 random allies in your day +3 | +3. This is where things get a whole lot more interesting. For just three mana, her effect is downright amazing, despite it having an RNG component. Three attack and health points is nothing to scoff at!

Aspiring Chronomancer is a 2 mana unit from Shurima with 2 | 3. Once played, you’ll get to Predict.

Closing Remarks

Overall, this is just the start of what Zilean and Ekko will soon bring to the table. We don’t have a lot of information to sink our teeth into, but even this meager glimpse is enough to get us hyped, that’s for sure! Most of these Shuriman units aren’t all that impressive, but we’ve only just seen them outside of a broader context. Once Zilean and Ekko are revealed, we’ll have a lot more information to work with. Either way, this is quite an exciting time for those who hold Legends of Runeterra in high regard! The Empires of the Ascended expansion is looking like a mighty good time, and we can’t wait to see what Riot has in store next!
