Legends of Runeterra | Lissandra Officially Revealed!

We have yet another official champion announcement — Lissandra will be joining Legends of Runeterra as a part of the upcoming Empires of the Ascended expansion! And boy will she be a dangerous addition to the game!

If you’re a regular player, these days are like Christmas and New Year’s Eve all rolled up into one! Renekton, Jarvan IV, Taliyah, and now Lissandra? Talk about an eclectic mix! And, by the looks of it, we’re only just getting started!

There’s a lot of ground to cover, so let’s begin!

Legends of Runeterra | Lissandra Officially Revealed

Lissandra is a 3 mana champion from Freljord with 2 | 3 along with Tough. Whenever she’s brought onto the board, she’ll summon a Frozen Thrall as well. That’s a Freljordian landmark we’ll go over down below. To level her up, you’ll need to summon at least 2+ allies that cost 8+ mana. When she reaches her second form, you’ll get a Watcher in hand as well.

Once leveled up, Lissandra will grow to 3 | 4, you’ll get another Frozen Thrall on the board, and your Nexus will get the Tough keyword as well (this is a new one). This Lissandra will also have a bonus effect — you’ll get a Fleeting 0 cost Ice Shard in hand at the start of each new round.

Watcher is a 17 mana unit from Freljord with 11 | 17 that’ll cost 0 mana if you’ve summoned 4+ allies that cost 8+ mana during the game. If Watcher happens to attack, it’ll obliterate the enemy deck. In other words, you’ve won.

Freljord Units

Draklorn Inquisitor is a 5 mana unit from Freljord with 4 | 5. Once you bring him onto the board, he’ll summon a Frozen Thrall as well. At the end of each round, if the countdown of any of your Frozen Thralls is 4 or less, advance them to 0. This, in short, is absolutely huge, but more on that below.

Freljord Spells

Lissandra’s Entomb is a 5 mana Fast spell that’ll obliterate a unit and summon a Frozen Tomb in its place. You’ll also get a bonus copy of Lissandra in your deck.

Ice Shard is a 3 mana Fast spell that’ll 1 damage to everything. Talk about a counter to Shadow Isles, yeesh!

Three Sisters is a 1 mana Burst spell that’ll create a Fleeting Flash Freeze, Fury of the North, or Entomb in hand.

Entomb is a 5 mana Fast spell that’ll obliterate a unit and summon a Frozen Tomb in its place.

Frozen Tomb is a 0 mana landmark that has a Countdown of 2. Once it reaches zero, it’ll summon an exact copy of the obliterated unit it replaced.

Freljord Landmarks

Frozen Thrall is a 1 mana landmark from Freljord that has a Countdown of 8. Once it reaches zero, it’ll summon a Frostguard Thrall.

Frostguard Thrall is an 8 mama unit with 8 | 8 and Overwhelm.

Blighted Ravine is a 4 mana landmark that, once summoned, will heal your Nexus for 4. It also has a Countdown of 1. Once it reaches zero, it’ll deal 2 damage to everything.

Closing Remarks

All of these cards are, simply put, mind-blowing by design. And this is especially true after yesterday’s fairly meek showcase of Taliyah and her Shurima-based cards. Watcher is the equivalent of Exodia, there’s a bevy of fascinating landmarks (all with their unique effects), a slew of interesting Fast and Burst spells, along with the ability to protect key units. What’s not to like?
