The 4th competitive week of LEC Spring 2021 is right around the corner. Its matches are scheduled to take place on February 12th – 13th. Each of the 10 teams is going to play twice and the results can change a lot of things in the standings table. No less than 5 teams are separated by one point or less and the situation is still volatile.

LEC Spring 2021 Current Standings

So far, the teams that delivered last season are doing well. In particular, Rogue is clearly demonstrating that its 3rd place result at LEC Summer 2020 and its participation at Worlds 2020 were not accidents. This team has truly upgraded its playstyle and is now one of the strongest competitors in the region. Some believed that their 2020 run may have been lucky, or that by changing two of its players prior to the 2021 season they would no longer be able to compete at the same level. But that’s clearly not the case.

Other teams, like Fnatic, are still hanging in, even though they lost their biggest stars. After Rekkles left the organization and joined G2, Fnatic’s chances to win another LEC Split was in question. Right now, I would say that for 2021 the answer is a definitive no. And not only because they lost 3 matches in their first 7. This also has to do with the fact that several other competitors look very strong at this point.

The newcomer, Astralis, is not doing well at the moment. Just 1 victory in 7 matches is absolutely abysmal. But I guess it was expected, given the skill and experience difference between them and most of the other teams.

Current Standings

  • 1st place: Rogue: 6 W – 1 L
  • 2nd place: FC Schalke 04 Esports: 5 W – 2 L
  • 3rd place: G2 Esports: 5 W – 2 L
  • 4th place: MAD Lions: 4 W – 3 L
  • 5th place: Excel Esports: 4 W – 3 L
  • 6th place: Fnatic: 4 W – 3 L
  • 7th place: SK Gaming 3 W – 4 L
  • 8th place: Misfits Gaming: 2 W – 5 L
  • 9th place: Astralis: 1 W – 6 L
  • 10th place: Team Vitality: 1 W – 6 L

Week 4 Predictions

LEC Spring 2021 has some very interesting matches for its 4th competitive week. In particular, I’m curious to see if Rogue can beat MAD Lions, a team that defeated Fnatic this split. In principle, they should absolutely wreck them.

The derby of the week is going to be G2 Esports versus Rogue. This match can pretty much decide the fate of the Group Stage. If Rogue wins, G2 can no longer catch up to them unless Odoamne’s team starts making big mistakes against weaker opponents. But if G2 wins, we’ll probably have a perfectly balanced situation at the end of these two competitive days, meaning a 7 W – 2 L record for both teams. And in fact, Schalke 04 may have the exact same score if they win against MAD. They’ll certainly beat Astralis in their first match. But MAD is a more challenging opponent.

The complete list of matches with my predictions is the following:

February 12th

  • S04 – Astralis: 1
  • Vitality – Excel Esports: 2
  • Misfits – G2 Esports: 2
  • MAD Lions – Rogue: 2
  • Fnatic – SK Gaming: 1

February 13th

  • Vitality – SK Gaming: 2
  • Misfits – Astralis: 1
  • S04 – MAD Lions: 1
  • Fnatic – Excel Esports: 1
  • G2 Esports – Rogue: 1
