Needless to say, Nintendo really knocked it out of the park with their E3 2021 Direct! Perhaps the biggest surprise of them all was the fact that Tekken’s Kazuya Mishima will be joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 DLC!

This is pretty much the very definition of a curveball, and it definitely caught us off guard! Fortunately, as far as surprises go, this is a pretty darn exciting one! Before we delve any deeper into the nitty-gritty, make sure to watch the official reveal trailer linked down below!

Kazuya Mishima Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!

Talk about an absolutely perfect addition to an already stacked roster! Kazuya will now join Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter and Terry Bogard from King of Fighters — all iconic characters who have entertained millions of gamers across the globe for decades. And now they’ll all be playable in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Truly sublime stuff!

Kazuya is also a much better pick than some other fighters who have recently been released as DLC, including Minecraft’s Steve and Alex, Min Min from ARMS, and even Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (although that last pairing was met with at least some fanfare). Final Fantasy VII’s Sephiroth was also a great addition to the game, although Kazuya definitely takes the cake in terms of sheer hype! Moreover, his Devil form will also be making an appearance, although it’s still unclear as to when players will be able to harness it.

All in all, the Fighters Vol. 2 DLC Pass is comprised of a fairly eclectic line-up — for better and worse. You can purchase the entire pass for $29.99 (all six fighters included) or, on the off-chance you’re not partial to the whole list, you can always acquire individual fighters for a much more modest $5.99. There’s still no telling as to who the sixth and final DLC fighter will be, but Bandai and Nintendo will surely give us a hint at some point in the near future!

By the same token, there’s still no official release date for Kazuya, but we’re bound to get one on June 28th, along with a ton of new gameplay footage, so definitely stay tuned!
