humblegod Gets Humbled – ana’s First Defeat with OG

After joining OG just a few weeks ago, ana initially did an amazing job in the team’s first DreamLeague Season 15 match against Brame. But the second match did not go as planned for N0tail and his crew. Even though they won the first game of the series, Alliance found a way to win in games 2 and 3. Although, to be fair, OG’s drafts were not exactly amazing and they practically defeated themselves.

DreamLeague Season 15 Current Standings

OG’s life will not be easy. The team is competing in a region in which 6 of the 8 teams have a record of 1 W – 1 L after the first two series. Everybody wants to qualify for the second Major of the season and almost everybody is capable of getting a top 4 position that would secure them a ticket.

Strangely enough, just like in season 1 of DreamLeague, Alliance leads the pack with 2 wins and 0 losses. And what’s even more spectacular is the fact that they managed to beat Team Liquid, who then went on to defeat Nigma, and OG, whose strength is formidable with ana on the roster. Time will tell if Alliance have what it takes to finish 2nd or even 1st in this tournament and get a comfortable spot in the Group Stage or perhaps the Playoffs of the Major.

Another big surprise so far was Team Secret. Once again, KuroKy found a way to beat his former teammate and teach him a Dota 2 lesson. Even though his team is now competing with a new player (iLTW), the way their whole lineup synchronized was just amazing.

Of course, as everyone expected, the last place is occupied by Hellbear Smashers. Ace and rASmus came close to winning against Tundra (1 – 2) and even posed serious challenges to Secret (1 – 2). But it’s clear that overall, this level of competition is too high for them.

Upcoming Matches

Week 2 of DreamLeague Season 15 still has 2 more matches to be played.

Team Secret versus Tundra

This should be a very easy match for Secret, whose individual players are much stronger than Tundra’s. Even though Fata is impressive and 33 is a decent offlaner, the team lacks in the other departments quite a bit. And against an opponent of Secret’s caliber, I simply can’t imagine them finding a way to win 2 games out of 3.

Alliance versus Nigma

Alliance is dominating the competition. But knowing just how inconsistent they are and the fact that they lost their last 3 matches against Nigma, I think it’s safe to assume that Nigma is the favorite here. I’d put the odds for this match at around 45 – 55 in favor of Kuro’s team. The only thing they need to be careful with is the drafts. In their last match against Liquid, Nigma lost in part because they used Tusk in all of their games. And after a while, your opponent just knows how to counter what you’re trying to do. Kuro needs to show more versatility.
