VP.Prodigy, the second roster of Virtus.Pro, have announced the arrivals of Danil “gpk” Skutin and Illias “illias” Ganeev, with the duo helping to complete their CIS squad. The duo will replace Rostislav “fn” Lozovoi and Albert “eine” Garaev, who departed the team back at the beginning of the month.

Mid-laner gpk and hard support illias will team up with Egor “epileptick1d” Grigorenko, Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin and Vitalie “Save-” Melnic at VP.Prodigy, Former Gambit Esports player gpk had a breakthrough season last time out, helping the team in recording a host of good results, including a third place finish at the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore. However, having also played as a stand in for the likes of HellRaisers, Evil Geniuses and Team Spirit, it perhaps comes as no surprise that gpk has made a permanent move to VP.Prodigy.

Can the Duo Take VP.Prodigy to the Next Level?

Should gpk be able to improve on his consistency, he could well be a key asset for VP.Prodigy, especially given the arrival of illias. The Russian teenager moved from tier three to Natus. Vincere last season, however he was unable to find any sort of form with Na’Vi. The team eventually finished in the bottom half of most events, with their only shining light coming in qualifying for the DreamLeague Season 13 Major. VP.Prodigy will be hoping that playing with a higher calibre of players will get the best out of the duo.

What Does the Future Hold for Virtus.Pro?

Natus Vincere are the leading name in the CIS region at present, however VP.Prodigy will be hoping that their new-look roster can apply significant pressure upon then. Natus recently announced the acquisition of the former FlyToMoon roster. However, questions remain surrounding the future of Virtus.Pro, with speculation mounting that they are set to name a new squad featuring former Evil Geniuses star Syed “sumaiL” Hassan.
Many now regard VP.Prodigy as the superior team, with a potential rebrand being in the pipeline too. We await further announcements from Virtus.Pro, with the signing of SumaiL potentially swinging the balance of power back in their favor.
