A large number of professional players have already made the switch from CS:GO to VALORANT, with the Valve FPS title having struggled in the wake of many tournament transitions. The news that Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund is set to become the latest to make the move to VALORANT is another blow to CS:GO.

The Swede took to Twitter this week to confirm the move, having previously hinted that the next step in his career would be within VALORANT. Alesund is regarded as one of the best CS:GO players in the games’ history, having starred for both Ninjas in Pyjamas and Dignitas. It was with NiP where GeT_RiGhT dominated the opening years of Global Offensive. The rifler was ranked no.2 in the world back in 2010 and 2011, before moving to top spot in 2013 and 2014 following his move to NiP.

How GeT_RiGhT Made His Name in CS:GO

His 87-map win streak in 2013 is still looked back on fondly by many, with the form of Alesund having helped the team in winning the ESL One: Cologne just a year later. However, such form did not continue for much longer, with a string of disappointing results having led to GeT_RiGhT being released by the organization in September 2019.
The Swede then made the move to Dignitas, joining three former NiP teammates in the process, with Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg being the best-known. Despite their roster looking almost unbeatable on paper, Dignitas failed to live up to expectations, which eventually saw Alesund benched earlier this year.

Who Will GeT_RiGhT Compete for in VALORANT?

GeT_RiGhT has joined the likes of Spencer “Hiko” Martin and Kirill “ANGE1” Karasiow in moving from CS:GO to Riot Games’ FPS VALORANT. While it remains to be seen as to which organization the Swede will join, it is unlikely that Alesund will be short of offers. Alesund has over 500,000 followers on Twitch to his name, with a move to VALORANT potentially seeing his profile grow yet further.
