According to recent reports, Gen.G has put its CS:GO roster up for sale, meaning that Timothy “autimatic” Ta, Kenneth “koosta” Suen and Hansel “BnTeT” Ferdinand will now be looking for new teams, alongside coach Chris “Elmapuddy” Tebbit. Gen.G initially entered the CS:GO scene in December 2019, before making an impressive start at the DreamHack Anaheim Open 2020.

Howeverr, results quickly went downhill, especially after matches moved online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Results at the DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 and ESL One: Cologne 2020 saw key players Sam “s0m” Oh and Damian “daps” Steele, who both moved to Valorant.

Why Gen.G is Looking to Exit CS:GO

Gen.G were best known for their activity in League of Legends, however they moved quickly to replace high profile departures from their CS:GO roster, signing Rasmus “kreaz” Johansson and Richard “Xizt” Landstrom. However, such arrivals did little to change their fortunes, with the team having failed to make it out of the group stage of the Flashpoint Season 2.

While such performances would certainly have played a part, it seems that Gen.G is in fact prioritizing Valorant over CS:GO. Gen.G are now seemingly working with their players in helping them find new homes, with the organisation even waiving buyout fees for potential moves. With koosta being the exception, all ex-Gen.G players look set to remain in CS:GO, rather than jumping ship to Valorant.

What Gen.G’s Exit Means for the NA Scene

It is unlikely that Autimatic will be a without a team for long, with the 24-year-old being one of the best players in the North American scene at present. Speaking on his future, the former Cloud9 AWPer said that he would “like to continue AWPing” heading into 2021, he has left his ultimate fate ambiguous. Just to clear some things up, for the time being, I’m looking to stay in CSGO. I’ve loved and played this game for more than half of my life and want to continue if I can. However, I’ll be playing some Valorant in the next coming weeks to try it out and make my decision then.”

Elsewhere, BnTeT has already announced that he would remain in CS:GO, which will come as good news for the North American scene. A host of players have switched to Valorant over recent months, while Evil Geniuses and FURIA have moved to Europe in order to compete in the BLAST series. Now, Gen.G has joined 100 Thieves, Team SoloMid and NRG in exiting the NA scene.
