A most fascinating graphics card was just unveiled: the RTX 3060 Metal Master Mini from GALAX. As the name implies, it is an Ampere-based GPU geared towards ITX builds and small form factor PCs! We’re always happy when companies try to cater to the more niche segments of the market, and this GPU, in particular, is a spectacular example!

It also has a reduced hash rate which means it probably won’t fly off the shelves as quickly as its more powerful brethren. We’re talking a single-fan design with a silver enclosure made of metal (almost surely some kind of light magnesium alloy). It’s not the most beautiful of graphics cards, but it’s not egregious-looking either. And, at just 168x115x40, it’ll fit even the smallest of ITX builds!

An inconspicuous design

Sufficiently Powerful

The GALAX RTX 3060 Mini is based on the typical GA106 die with 3584 CUDA cores and clock speeds running at 1320-1777Mhz along with 12GB of GDDR6 memory. To power it, you’ll need to supply a single eight-pin PCIe connector, as per usual. As for I/O, it comes with four display outputs, including three DisplayPort 1.4a sockets, and a single HDMI 2.1.

Its metal shroud will supposedly result in lower fan noise as it’s basically an extension of the GPU’s heat sink. It’s not factory overclocked which means you could, potentially, eke out a bit more performance, but you’d be wise not to push it too far; it has a modest cooling solution, after all.

So far it has only been confirmed for the Chinese market, but seeing how small form factor builds have risen in popularity across the globe, it’s safe to assume that GALAX will eventually make it available worldwide. In fact, we’d say it’s all but guaranteed! There’s still no word on pricing, though. The RTX 3060 has an MSRP of $329, but we know that means very little in today’s climate. Hopefully its reduced hash rate will result in a reduced (i.e. non-inflated) price tag as well!
