Kenny “kennyS” Schrub may be one of the biggest names in the CS:GO scene, however this has not stopped G2 Esports from removing the Frenchman from its active roster. Having spent for years with the Spanish org, having arrived back in 2017 from Team EnvyUs. The AWPer has been unable to rediscover his best form of late, with his compatriot Audric “JaCkz” Jug having now been named as his replacement.

G2 made early exits in three straight BLAST evens, before failing to make any sort of impact at the IEM Katowice. kennyS played alongside the likes of Richard “Shox” Papillon, Alexandre “body” Pianaro, Nathan “NBK” Schmitt and Dan “apEX” Madesclaire when he first arrived at G2, however consistent roster changes had a negative effect on the team.

Why JaCKz Has Returned to the Active G2 Roster

JaCKz was benched by G2 back in July last year, with the inclusion of Francois “AmaNEk” Delaunay and Nikalo “Niko” Kovac having done little to help kennyS, who averaged a rating of 0.98 across four tournaments. It remains to be seen as to whether the return of JaCKz will see G2’s results improve.

The change also means that Niko will be in charge of sniping for G2, while coach Damien “malek” Marcel believes that the team will now have more flexibility. Speaking on the announcement, malek stated that: “Although bittersweet, we are confident these changes will bring back some great CS by G2 to the server.”

What the Future Holds for kennyS

JaCKz was one of the standout performers during the ESEA Winter Cash Cups 5 and 6, where he placed second and first, respectively, alongside bodyy and Lucas “Lucky” Chastang. His benching means that kennyS will likely be looking for a new home, with G2 Head of Esports Danny Engels having had the following to say on the matter:
“This is done with a heavy heart and an appreciation for his legacy and talent. As he is still under contract, anyone who wishes to discuss a new home for kennyS can contact me directly.”

kennyS has an excellent standing within the CS:GO community, with the 25-year-old having taken to Twitter to thank G2 for his time with the org: “I want to start by thankin everyone who has been really positive and supportive with me. My motivation remains the same if not slightly stronger, I intend to keep playing CS and find the right place to keep on my journey. I’m grateful for ur support, thank you and I love y’all Red heart.”
The new look G2 CS:GO lineup can be seen in action when they take on Ninjas in Pyjamas at the ESL Pro League Season 13 on March 13.
