Epic Games has announced a paid subscription offer will be made available to players. Starting in December, the new tier will cost £9.99 for those in the UK or $11.99 in the United States. The subscription offer will coincide with the launch of the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 season pass, which will be available from December 2.

Fans were asked to give their thoughts on the potential introduction of a subscription model back in October, something in which Epic have considered introducing for some time. In fact, an “annual pass” model idea was passed up some 12 months ago.

How Much Will Players Have to Spend for the New Subscription?

The new offer will make it possible for players to access the Fortnite Battle Pass, normally worth around £7.99, along with exclusive cosmetics packs and a 1000 V-Bucks stipend, worth £6.49. Cosmetics available via the new subscription package will be unable for purchase elsewhere, however Epic have admitted that similar items already feature in the current battle pass.

Some fans have already voiced their displeasure at the announcement, speficially around the fact that 1000 V-Bucks is fairly insignificant when compared to the appealing Fortnite cosmetics wardrobe. Despite this, many will still undoubtedly sign up in December. Available exclusive cosmetic items in December will include Galaxia, who has the appearance of Brite Bomber and the Samsung Galaxy skins. Meanwhile, a pickaxe and black bling also feature.

Did Epic Games Reveal Star Wars Theme?

It has been a busy few days for Fortnite, with news of the games’ new subscription service having seen Epic seemingly inadvertently unveil some Star Wars crossover characters. Such characters are set to join the fold next month, with leaked images having shown skins surrounding next season’s battle pass. While the leak does not 100% confirm that next season will be Star Wars focused, it would not come as a surprise, especially given the popularity of the Marvel theme this time around. The character displayed could well act in a similar manner to Aquaman, who featured as a guest in a battle pass a few seasons ago.
