Former CS:GO Favourite Steel Joins 100Thieves Valorant Roster

Having called time on his days in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene just a matter of weeks ago, Josh “Steel” Nissan has finally made a decision regarding his future, with 100 Thieves having announced that the British-Canadian has joined their Valorant roster. Steel is the latest former CS:GO to make the move to the Riot first-person shooter game, which continues to take significant strides in the Esports world.

It should perhaps comes as little surprise that Valorant has attracted so many CS:GO pros, with Riot having developed one of the finest tactical shooter titles for many years. However, following the recent “coach bug” scandal, which saw three coaches banned by ESL, losing another of its star names is certainly not welcome news for the Valve game.

Why Steel Moved from CS:GO to Valorant

Steel won everything possible during his time in CS:GO with iBUYPOWER, before his involvement in a match fixing scandal brought a halt to his success. Having joined Chaos after being banned from Valve-organised events, Steel won a B-tier tournament in the ESEA Season 34: Premier Division – North America, before joining the likes of Spencer “Hiko” Martin and Nicholas “nitr0” Cannella at 100 Thieves.

Following the news that promising duo Austin “crashies” Roberts and Victor “food” Wong had been released by T1, many had put 2+2 together and assumed that Steel would help to fill the void. However, it was ultimately 100 Thieves that stole in to acquire his services, with the North American organisation now having one of the best Valorant rosters on paper. Steel is now one of three former IGL pros on the 100 Thieves roster, with those in charge undoubtedly hoping that his arrival can change their fortunes in terms of results

Can the Arrival of Steel Change the Fortunes of 100 Thieves?

100 Thieves have been hugely disappointing over recent weeks, with their 5th-6th finish at the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown back in June being their best display. The experience of Steel could be worth its weight in gold, with the 30-year-old known for his ability to perform under pressure. However, a major question is still unanswered, with fans wondering who will be the in-game leader for the team, with all three players having carried out the role in the past. Additions such as Steel and nitr0 are certainly exciting for Valorant and 100 Thieves fans, however we await just how quickly the duo can make a significant impact.
