Fnatic rifler Robin “flusha” Ronnquist has been convicted of tax evasion in his native Sweden, which surrounds winnings made under their banner back in 2015. As in the United States and many other nations, winnings made from Esports events are taxed at a higher rate, when compared to employee salary.

Ronnquist has been sentenced to 120 hours of community service, however the 27-year-old has avoided jail time, having been at risk of being put away for up to four months. Flusha had claimed that his tax filing in 2015 was a mistake, with the Swedish courts having agreed with him in part. The Fnatic man has agreed to pay the equivalent of $100 to the Swedish Crime Victim Fund, while he will also have to pay 40% in taxes back, which amounts to around $220,000. Fnatic has earned around $1 million in prize money throughout 2015.

How flusha’s Conviction Came About

The ruling follows an investigation surrounding the Fnatic organisation which dates back to September 2019, with courts having concluded that the North American’s had failed to pay payroll taxes in both 2016 and 2017. It is believed that Ronnquist’s financials were part of the investigation, despite it having centered around Fnatic as a whole.

Flusha will still be in a position to compete for Fnatic, which will come as a relief to Fnatic, especially given the fact that the Flashpoint Season 2 CS:GO event has only just got underway. The $1 million prize pool for the event is the largest in CS:GO history, with Fnatic having won its opeinng group stage encounter against MAD Lions, before eventually losing out to the same team in the Upper Bracket Final.

Flusha Will Continue to Compete for Fnatic

As a result, Fnatic were made to compete in the Lower Brack Final ahead of the group’s Grand Final, where they won 2-0. Fnatic will now take on Dignitas in the quarter finals, with the American’s having themselves overcome forZe in their Last Chance Match. One thing that is for sure is that however Fnatic finish the event, flusha will be declaring his winnings in full .
